ABFJ Podcast: Surveying the M&A Landscape

With the acquisition of companies like Gerber Finance and the North American operations of Bibby Financial Services, eCapital has really made a name for itself. In fact, by rebranding, the company formerly known as Global Merchant Fund has quite literally made a name for itself. In the 14h episode of the ABF Journal podcast, Bruce Sim, head of acquisitions at eCapital, joined the program to discuss the M&A landscape, his company’s rebrand and its approach to acquiring and supporting companies, including the recent acquisition of Prosperity Funding.  Sim predicted an increase in M&A activity as soon as the end of Q3/20 and also shared how eCapital looks to add successful platforms — not just attractive portfolios — while providing capital raising that allows companies to stick to their specialties. Lastly, he shared some advice for would-be sellers, including the importance of transparency.
