The need to expand Nepal's green energy market to South Asia and beyond is urgent given the country's quick transition to an energy surplus, the worldwide shift to green energy, and its enormous potential. The Power Summit 2023 examined the opportunities and difficulties in developing Nepal's green energy market, offering a fantastic forum for policymakers, business executives, financiers, and experts to talk about green energy options, market trends, scientific developments, and business opportunities. In today’s episode, we have PEI Colleague Saurab’s conversation with Abhigya Malla on the recently concluded Power Summit ‘23 and How to Broaden Green Energy Markets in Nepal. The two discuss some of the major topics that were discussed during the Power Summit ‘23 which had the theme, “Broadening Green Energy Markets.” They further discuss how the milestone event can contribute to the evolution of the Nepali electricity sector in the conversations of cross-border electricity trade, climate change, improved policy and regulations, social inclusion, and attracting foreign investments into the sector. Ms. Abhigya Malla is a professional accountant and a hydropower development professional associated with Union Mewa, Hongu Khola HPP, and Upper Tamor A Hydro Power Projects. She is also an Executive Committee Member of the Independent Power Producers’ Association, Nepal (IPPAN). She has a Master's in Professional Accountancy and a Master of Commerce in Finance from Macquarie University, Australia.
