Much of life happens through straining—we work hard to put food on our plates, clothes on our back, and to keep the lights on. All of this is good, and we should strive in these areas, but Christ shows us it’s different with our spiritual lives—true change comes not through straining, but through abiding. If we are to grow in Christ, then we must abide in Christ. And in our passage, Jesus gives us three reasons why: 1. Apart from Christ, We Can Do Nothing; 2. Through Christ, We Can Do All Things; and 3. In Christ, We Have Everything.
