Abington Township pulling out all the stops in battle against formidable foe: Canadian geese

Lasers, drone boats, pyrotechnics -- even euthanasia. Abington is pulling out all the stops as it does battle with a formidable foe: the Canada goose. The township in Montgomery County has contracted with the feds for "waterfowl harassment" in Alverthorpe Park. The Philadelphia Inquirer reports the Department of Agriculture will visit several dozen times with escalating measures of goose-spooking. The USDA will discard eggs. And, geese could be killed for food. Officials in Abington say the geese have been attacking people, and goose droppings may be affecting water quality at the park.
