About Marcel Carné’s Les Enfants du Paradis-Partie 2

from IFM · host Institut Français de la Mode

Marc Jeancourt, Director of the Theâtre Firmin Gémier/La Piscine (Châtenay-Malabry/Antony), gave IFM students his own personal reading of Enfants du Paradis (Marcel Carné, 1945). He concentrates his analysis on one of the film's central themes: the dream of a reconcilliation between popular and bourgeois art, the former incarnated by the character of Baptiste (Jean-Louis Barrault) and the latter by Frédérick Lemaître (Pierre Brasseur), each of them as « innovative artists » in their respective domains.
