About Sacrifice
from Hope-Full Living · host Neal A. Orabka
Many people have made sacrifices. A parent chose to work a second job to provide for his/her family. A child postpones a promising career to take care of an ill parent. Abraham prepared the sacrifice of his beloved son, Isaac. There’s also our Heavenly Father who chose to send his only begotten Son into this world. God “did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all” (Romans 8:32). Why are sacrifices made? A sacrifice implies a choice: one doesn’t have to take a second job, obey God’s call, or send a son to die. People who make sacrifices choose to, out of love for that other person. Love prompts sacrifice. To you who have made a sacrifice, thank you for your willingness and your love. To you, Lord God, who sacrificed your Son for us and for our salvation, a mere thank you is inadequate.
