Abraham Lincoln by Ward Hill Lamon | Controversial 1872 Biography & American History Audiobook Part 1

⭐ Catholic Review — 4/5 An important early biography offering a detailed portrait of Lincoln's character, political development, public service, and personal life. From a Catholic perspective, its treatment of Lincoln's religious beliefs is particularly interesting but controversial, since Lamon portrayed Lincoln as skeptical of orthodox Christianity—a conclusion later challenged by other biographers and historians. Best appreciated as a 19th-century primary-source-era biography rather than a definitive account of Lincoln's faith.
