Accadde il 7 gennaio Il 7 gennaio 1797 nacque la bandiera tricolore italiana, adottata come simbolo della Repubblica Cispadana a Reggio Emilia. Questo stato, situato "al di qua del Po", prende il nome dal latino cis (al di qua) e Padanus (relativo al fiume Po). Oggi il termine "cispadano" è usato anche in senso ironico, ad esempio nell'espressione "parlare cispadano", per indicare un italiano fortemente influenzato dai dialetti settentrionali.
