Accepting/Adjusting - SOS

from Dreams By Any Means Motivation Station · host DREAMS

1. Acceptance Doesn’t Mean ApprovalAccepting reality means facing things as they are—not as you wish they were. You don’t have to like the situation to accept it. Acceptance simply says:“This is happening. This is real.”Only from that place can you make wise decisions. How to practice it: • Stop fighting what you can’t change (past events, other people’s choices). • Say to yourself: “This is the way it is right now, and I can still decide how I respond.”⸻2. Feel What You FeelAvoiding pain only intensifies it. Feelings like sadness, anger, disappointment, and grief are valid and temporary—if you let yourself feel them. How to practice it: • Journal honestly without judgment. • Talk to a trusted friend or therapist. • Allow yourself to grieve what you’ve lost, even if it’s just an old version of your life.⸻3. Shift Your Focus to What You Can ControlYou can’t control everything. But you can control your mindset, your choices, your boundaries, your routines.Ask yourself: • What can I influence right now? • What small actions help me feel more grounded today?Even small wins—eating well, getting rest, setting a boundary—help you rebuild trust with yourself.⸻4. Stay Flexible, Not RigidLife rarely follows a straight line. The people who adjust best are those who stay open to new possibilities, not attached to specific outcomes. How to practice it: • Replace “Why is this happening to me?” with “What is this trying to teach me?” • Think in terms of seasons. This moment isn’t permanent—it’s part of a larger story.⸻5. Rebuild with IntentionOnce you accept what’s happened, you can ask: Now what? What kind of life do you want to build now, even if it’s different than before?Ways to rebuild: • Reconnect with what matters: your values, relationships, goals. • Try new things—even small ones—to rediscover what gives you energy or peace. • Set short-term goals that move you forward.⸻6. Give Yourself GraceYou’re not behind. You’re not broken. You’re human.Remember: • Healing isn’t linear. • You’re allowed to struggle and still grow. • Every step, even if it’s small, counts.
