from Orlando Holiday Planning · host Orlando Insider Travel Agents
00;00;00;10 - 00;00;03;10 If you're planning an accessible trip to Orlando, 00;00;03;12 - 00;00;06;14 then you already know that there are 1,000,001 things 00;00;06;15 - 00;00;09;16 you need to consider the airlines where you're staying. 00;00;09;16 - 00;00;12;15 What you do in the theme parks is so many different things 00;00;12;15 - 00;00;15;25 that you need to be considering when you go to the state of Florida. 00;00;16;00 - 00;00;21;13 Luckily, I have Steve with me and Steve is is a accessible travel expert. 00;00;21;13 - 00;00;24;00 So hello, Steve. What is the book cost? Hi, Martin. 00;00;24;00 - 00;00;25;08 Thanks for having me on. 00;00;25;08 - 00;00;28;13 So first took me through when someone comes to you 00;00;28;16 - 00;00;30;18 and says that they're looking for an accessible holiday, 00;00;30;18 - 00;00;32;28 what's the first kind of things that you do? 00;00;32;28 - 00;00;37;09 Well, I think the very first thing to do is to start getting to know the clients 00;00;37;09 - 00;00;42;02 as much as possible, because everybody's individual, all needs are different. 00;00;42;03 - 00;00;45;25 And in order to get a seamless experience, I'd really need to be able 00;00;45;25 - 00;00;47;25 to put myself into those situations. 00;00;47;25 - 00;00;51;00 So I'd ask lots of questions to understand, 00;00;51;03 - 00;00;54;12 you know, what accessibility requirements are we actually looking at? 00;00;54;12 - 00;00;57;05 So what kind of equipment to use? 00;00;57;05 - 00;01;01;00 Do they have a wheelchair, Do they need feeding machines? 00;01;01;00 - 00;01;02;22 Do they need profiling beds? 00;01;02;22 - 00;01;07;02 Do they have reduced mobility, zero mobility, etc., etc.? 00;01;07;05 - 00;01;11;27 And I guess the more you learn, the more you get to know your clients 00;01;11;29 - 00;01;16;04 and have a more deep understanding of what their day to day life is like 00;01;16;04 - 00;01;17;12 and what kind of problems 00;01;17;12 - 00;01;20;21 they might face that we really just don't want to face on this trip. 00;01;20;24 - 00;01;22;27 It's really important to learn what those are, 00;01;22;27 - 00;01;26;13 and then once I can put myself in that position, I can 00;01;26;13 - 00;01;30;16 then start to patch together what I would call, you know, an awesome itinerary, 00;01;30;19 - 00;01;33;14 sort of hit the nail on the head that there's a lot of things 00;01;33;14 - 00;01;36;15 you might have to put up with your in your everyday life 00;01;36;21 - 00;01;39;24 that when you're away in Orlando, you don't want to be putting out 00;01;39;25 - 00;01;42;19 where you want to go and have an amazing time. 00;01;42;19 - 00;01;46;27 And the things that might be a problem in supermarkets, 00;01;46;27 - 00;01;51;10 for example, or transportation in the UK, you kind of want to eliminate those 00;01;51;13 - 00;01;54;26 whilst you're off making memories and having this once in a lifetime trip 00;01;54;29 - 00;01;56;24 and equally the same the other way around, 00;01;56;24 - 00;02;00;16 you know, things that we might take for granted that are so easy here 00;02;00;19 - 00;02;03;10 may not be in the place where you're traveling to. 00;02;03;10 - 00;02;04;06 And I know in this occasion 00;02;04;06 - 00;02;07;14 we're talking about Orlando, but obviously every place is different. 00;02;07;14 - 00;02;11;23 So destination knowledge is critical when you're planning a trip overseas, 00;02;11;23 - 00;02;15;13 but when you have accessibility requirements to show 00;02;15;16 - 00;02;18;23 nothing is why it's best to always go to an accessible 00;02;18;26 - 00;02;22;02 travel agent who specializes in that area as well. 00;02;22;02 - 00;02;25;07 Because you might get an an accessible travel agent 00;02;25;07 - 00;02;28;06 who specializes, for example, we go into Spain and that's fantastic. 00;02;28;06 - 00;02;29;19 They know the 00;02;29;19 - 00;02;33;10 the all inclusive resorts there, but Orlando is a completely different beast. 00;02;33;10 - 00;02;34;24 It's absolutely huge. 00;02;34;24 - 00;02;39;23 Just getting around is it can be really difficult at the best of times. 00;02;39;26 - 00;02;42;26 And so when you add in any additional needs that you have, 00;02;43;00 - 00;02;44;21 that's when people are going to start struggling. 00;02;44;21 - 00;02;46;14 So where does it really sort of start? 00;02;46;14 - 00;02;49;05 What's the sort of first trip people need to start thinking about 00;02;49;05 - 00;02;52;01 When I'm, you know, talking to my clients, I you know, 00;02;52;01 - 00;02;55;07 we have a lot of conversations to really understand, like I said, 00;02;55;10 - 00;02;58;02 and then, you know, we start at the beginning the best place. 00;02;58;02 - 00;02;58;20 So when 00;02;58;20 - 00;03;01;27 and when I say the beginning, I mean what happens when you leave your home? 00;03;01;27 - 00;03;03;23 How do you get to the airport? 00;03;03;23 - 00;03;06;06 Would you require a car parking at that airport? 00;03;06;06 - 00;03;09;13 Is that space needs to be a certain size because of a certain size 00;03;09;13 - 00;03;11;02 vehicle, etc., etc.. 00;03;11;02 - 00;03;13;15 So we think about it right the way from the beginning 00;03;13;15 - 00;03;15;23 and then we move into sort of that 00;03;15;23 - 00;03;19;14 airport space and depending on which airport you're flying from, 00;03;19;16 - 00;03;22;25 what facilities they may have, that could enhance your travel experience. 00;03;22;25 - 00;03;24;29 So some of them have 00;03;25;01 - 00;03;25;11 meet and 00;03;25;11 - 00;03;29;02 greet services, some that's then crowds, sensory rooms 00;03;29;02 - 00;03;32;23 available such as Gatwick and Manchester that have opened their sensory rooms. 00;03;33;00 - 00;03;35;07 They've been fantastic and well-received. 00;03;35;07 - 00;03;38;05 And then I think Heathrow Terminal three went ahead and did things as well, 00;03;38;05 - 00;03;39;04 which has been well received. 00;03;39;04 - 00;03;41;06 So, you know, we're starting to get there 00;03;41;06 - 00;03;45;10 in terms of these types of services that are available at airports. 00;03;45;12 - 00;03;47;22 In addition to your 00;03;47;22 - 00;03;50;28 assistance, like you may say, for example, FCO, 00;03;50;29 - 00;03;55;01 a wheelchair user and request assistance airports, I'm sure lots of people 00;03;55;01 - 00;03;56;14 will be tutting and rolling their eyes 00;03;56;14 - 00;03;58;04 listening to this right now because they know 00;03;58;04 - 00;04;01;27 how frustrating assistance at airports can be sometimes. 00;04;02;00 - 00;04;03;21 And so it's really important to know that you've got 00;04;03;21 - 00;04;06;21 the right type of assistance and you've got the right equipment. 00;04;06;22 - 00;04;09;20 I can give an example where recently 00;04;09;23 - 00;04;11;03 an airline had 00;04;11;03 - 00;04;14;13 advice that during a connection we would have to use a standard airport 00;04;14;13 - 00;04;18;27 wheelchair, but that you know, the client has severe cerebral palsy 00;04;19;00 - 00;04;21;20 and has to have his own adapted wheelchair. 00;04;21;20 - 00;04;25;03 And it was such a battle getting, you know, getting to that point where 00;04;25;06 - 00;04;29;01 they had to understand that that's what has to happen. 00;04;29;03 - 00;04;30;26 And in the end, it was all approved, you know, 00;04;30;26 - 00;04;32;11 but there was a bit of a battle to get there. 00;04;32;11 - 00;04;33;23 And so that's the kinds of things 00;04;33;23 - 00;04;36;28 that we have to consider with with airlines and airports. 00;04;37;01 - 00;04;42;07 I suppose it is knowing who to speak to and also what they can and can't do. 00;04;42;09 - 00;04;45;19 And like you just said, not except in the first answer 00;04;45;19 - 00;04;48;19 they give you, the first answer they give you isn't acceptable. 00;04;48;20 - 00;04;53;25 It's then knowing who to then turn to and who to speak to, to actually get 00;04;53;27 - 00;04;58;18 the right situation so the guests can have an amazing holiday 00;04;58;24 - 00;05;01;22 without actually having to change into 00;05;01;22 - 00;05;04;26 when these sort of standard wheelchairs, which is just not going to work for them. 00;05;04;26 - 00;05;06;25 Is it correct? 00;05;06;25 - 00;05;10;03 And, you know, the booking of that as a flight, for example, 00;05;10;03 - 00;05;13;20 is the easy part, if that's the part, that's the fun part. 00;05;13;20 - 00;05;14;00 Yeah. 00;05;14;00 - 00;05;17;08 But look, the going but actually the accessibility 00;05;17;08 - 00;05;22;06 requirements is, is, you know, that can really be a complex 00;05;22;09 - 00;05;24;10 web to navigate 00;05;24;10 - 00;05;27;16 and there's lots of different things to take into consideration 00;05;27;16 - 00;05;29;21 the types of equipment you're traveling with, where 00;05;29;21 - 00;05;32;21 it's going to be on the aircraft, whether it's permitted, 00;05;32;27 - 00;05;37;08 if there's restrictions on what you can take, you have to factor into your trip. 00;05;37;11 - 00;05;40;08 And certain airlines can only take things to certain sizes. 00;05;40;08 - 00;05;43;19 So, you know, you really do need that expert to go to 00;05;43;22 - 00;05;46;21 to cut through all of that for you and be like, well, actually, 00;05;46;21 - 00;05;50;23 you can fly with three airlines with lots of equipment. 00;05;50;25 - 00;05;53;09 So that gives us lots of opportunity to look for. 00;05;53;09 - 00;05;57;06 And sometimes I think people just need someone who has has gone 00;05;57;06 - 00;06;00;27 through this multiple times before themselves. 00;06;01;00 - 00;06;05;23 So to, you know, you know, and booked lots of other people in similar situations 00;06;05;23 - 00;06;09;18 to have that experience much needed and the patience that's needed, 00;06;09;18 - 00;06;14;00 I guess that to make it right for everybody, devotees of 00;06;14;02 - 00;06;16;07 try and make things as hassle free as possible, don't 00;06;16;07 - 00;06;19;01 We said that people can enjoy their holidays 00;06;19;01 - 00;06;22;01 and they don't have to worry about all these sort of additional kind of things. 00;06;22;02 - 00;06;25;29 Sure, anything that sort of you need to be more aware of with the airlines 00;06;25;29 - 00;06;29;11 in terms of booking with them or what they can kind of offer and provide, 00;06;29;14 - 00;06;31;28 It really does differ from airline to airline. 00;06;31;28 - 00;06;35;25 And what as you know, as we often say, you know, every case is 00;06;35;26 - 00;06;39;04 is completely individual because every person's quite unique. 00;06;39;06 - 00;06;42;18 But you know, that I would say there are definitely airlines out there 00;06;42;20 - 00;06;46;26 that are easier to work with in this in this area. 00;06;47;01 - 00;06;50;19 You know, when if you're going to Orlando, you know, again, it really depends 00;06;50;19 - 00;06;52;12 on your individual circumstances. 00;06;52;12 - 00;06;57;13 Some people might need to fly direct as quickly as possible and get the job done 00;06;57;15 - 00;07;03;08 in as little time as possible, you know, in order to satisfy the requirement 00;07;03;11 - 00;07;07;12 that somebody, you know or those passengers might have 00;07;07;14 - 00;07;10;26 similarly, you might have somebody with the condition 00;07;11;03 - 00;07;15;29 that requires a break every so often and procedures to be done every so often. 00;07;15;29 - 00;07;19;01 And therefore, you might need actually to take the flights 00;07;19;01 - 00;07;22;28 that are three flights connecting in different places with lounges 00;07;22;28 - 00;07;26;27 or rooms booked in those airports so they can complete those procedures. 00;07;26;27 - 00;07;30;25 So again, it really does depend on the individual 00;07;30;25 - 00;07;34;02 client as to, you know, what the best solution is. 00;07;34;02 - 00;07;35;07 And I think that's the beauty 00;07;35;07 - 00;07;38;28 as being a travel counselor is it's our job to make sure we pair up 00;07;39;01 - 00;07;42;01 the requirements with the response of the people going 00;07;42;01 - 00;07;45;25 and not just what's going to be the easiest in our and our minds. 00;07;45;28 - 00;07;50;02 Most people would want to fly direct, for example, as she says some people would. 00;07;50;04 - 00;07;52;14 It is easier to or better to fly. 00;07;52;14 - 00;07;54;23 You know, you might have to fly to to New York first, 00;07;54;23 - 00;07;59;07 which is just short a flight and then fly down tends to be a bit cheaper as well. 00;07;59;09 - 00;08;03;09 But in this sort of situation, it's not because of a cost kind of issue. 00;08;03;09 - 00;08;06;21 It's you said it's more because you might need to have 00;08;06;21 - 00;08;10;20 that extra time to be off the plane by a certain time. 00;08;10;22 - 00;08;14;28 So looking at the different kind of activities and excursions and theme parks 00;08;14;29 - 00;08;19;11 you can go to in Orlando, are there is some that we would 00;08;19;11 - 00;08;23;06 really recommend any kind of activity probably not worth going into. 00;08;23;06 - 00;08;24;27 And what kind of considerations do 00;08;24;27 - 00;08;27;26 people need to think about when go into these attractions? 00;08;27;26 - 00;08;30;17 If asking the wrong person, those things not to go to? 00;08;30;17 - 00;08;32;08 Because I said 00;08;32;10 - 00;08;35;10 I've I'd go all the time if I could. 00;08;35;11 - 00;08;38;08 Look, I think I'm really excited about the parks 00;08;38;08 - 00;08;40;18 that haven't even opened yet, you know, like parks open. 00;08;40;18 - 00;08;44;10 I think Universal that's opening in 2025, you know, that 00;08;44;13 - 00;08;47;24 that is going to be and it really is going to be affected. 00;08;47;29 - 00;08;50;29 You know, I'm so excited for that. 00;08;51;01 - 00;08;54;06 I'd say overall for, you know, around 00;08;54;12 - 00;08;57;18 activities and excursions, there are so many in Orlando. 00;08;57;20 - 00;09;00;14 First of all, there isn't just Disney, right? 00;09;00;14 - 00;09;04;03 There's Disney, there's Universal, there's Busch Gardens there. 00;09;04;04 - 00;09;05;26 So you've got your theme parks, 00;09;05;26 - 00;09;09;20 you've got the Kennedy Space Center, you've got beaches. 00;09;09;23 - 00;09;14;08 And actually beaches in Florida now are some of the most accessible 00;09;14;08 - 00;09;17;09 beaches that you can go to in the world and that you can rent 00;09;17;09 - 00;09;22;02 beach buggies, you can rent beach chairs that are designed in many factories 00;09;22;04 - 00;09;25;04 to handle the terrain and sometimes even water. 00;09;25;08 - 00;09;27;11 So you can really, you know, 00;09;27;11 - 00;09;31;18 immerse more in the beaches if you if you're a wheelchair user, for instance. 00;09;31;20 - 00;09;34;17 But in general, there's a lot more hotels now that are being built 00;09;34;17 - 00;09;39;07 with sensory rooms around Orlando and also Florida and wider Florida. 00;09;39;09 - 00;09;42;22 We've got the exciting, bright line that opened recently, 00;09;42;22 - 00;09;45;22 and the bright line can now connect to Miami, 00;09;45;27 - 00;09;49;01 but will continue to, you know, go to West Palm Beach. 00;09;49;01 - 00;09;53;15 So the wonderful thing there is is that you you'll be able to twin sensor 00;09;53;15 - 00;09;54;13 with an accessible 00;09;54;13 - 00;09;57;19 and sustainable mode of transport in between it's high speed rail. 00;09;57;21 - 00;10;00;21 So an awesome step forward for Florida. 00;10;00;27 - 00;10;05;14 And you know, that's really exciting news when it comes to the park. 00;10;05;17 - 00;10;08;10 They've all got their own unique ways of dealing with things. 00;10;08;10 - 00;10;13;05 So Disney, for example, has a as a service called DAS. 00;10;13;07 - 00;10;18;09 It's like a fast track system, but ultimately, you know, the navigating 00;10;18;09 - 00;10;22;19 all of that can be really complex anyway to anybody going to any family. 00;10;22;21 - 00;10;25;14 So adding in, oh gosh, well, 00;10;25;14 - 00;10;29;00 you know, we might not be able to go every day because of X, Y and Z. 00;10;29;03 - 00;10;30;08 It can complicate matters. 00;10;30;08 - 00;10;33;19 So that's when you need someone to cut through the mess and say, Right, 00;10;33;21 - 00;10;35;20 yeah, you're going for this number of days. 00;10;35;20 - 00;10;38;26 You're not going to be able to do absolutely everything. 00;10;38;28 - 00;10;40;05 But what are the top things 00;10;40;05 - 00;10;44;00 and really help the client understand what the priorities are of the trip. 00;10;44;00 - 00;10;48;00 And by doing that, you're not necessarily pushed into buying 14 day passes 00;10;48;00 - 00;10;49;06 if you don't need them. 00;10;49;06 - 00;10;53;12 And that's where you could actually save money and and just get tickets 00;10;53;12 - 00;10;56;12 for the right number of days, for the right number of reasons. 00;10;56;14 - 00;11;01;21 I've recently had a client who booked and it's in order to be able to do 00;11;01;24 - 00;11;05;11 Disney and Universal properly with this condition, 00;11;05;11 - 00;11;08;11 they have to go for three weeks in order just to do those two, 00;11;08;14 - 00;11;12;03 but they won't get anywhere else during that three weeks. 00;11;12;06 - 00;11;15;06 And so it was just getting to that point, 00;11;15;07 - 00;11;17;29 understanding what was really important. 00;11;17;29 - 00;11;22;02 And then you've got your save rates like dollars and experiences that awesome. 00;11;22;02 - 00;11;26;05 And you can get ones where you can go in and just stuck to your lap 00;11;26;05 - 00;11;31;02 and you've got a heist for some that has got, you know, partial movement. 00;11;31;05 - 00;11;35;18 And yeah, there's loads of really cool things that you can do around, around 00;11;35;18 - 00;11;35;29 the states. 00;11;35;29 - 00;11;38;26 It's not just, it's not just the see in parks. 00;11;38;26 - 00;11;40;24 There is lots of other things too. 00;11;40;24 - 00;11;43;25 Yeah, there's some, the Florida is really well blessed We have 00;11;43;25 - 00;11;47;07 obviously has been parks and then I said you can take the bright line 00;11;47;12 - 00;11;49;18 and I was looking at the videos the bright line 00;11;49;18 - 00;11;52;22 and when I go over to Florida, I tend to just go to Orlando. 00;11;52;22 - 00;11;55;28 But I think next year my whereby trips is going 00;11;55;28 - 00;11;59;03 to include going to Miami and maybe a cruise out of Miami. 00;11;59;03 - 00;12;00;18 And just my personally, I'm 00;12;00;18 - 00;12;03;18 going to take the bright line because it's so much easier 00;12;03;21 - 00;12;07;15 than than flying down another one to drive down one when I'm on the other. 00;12;07;15 - 00;12;11;20 We drive here to drive down I-95 cost You know, 00;12;11;20 - 00;12;13;00 I don't know if I ever told you, Martin, 00;12;13;00 - 00;12;16;11 but I used to work for Royal Caribbean Cruises as well. 00;12;16;11 - 00;12;20;24 I work for them for seven years, but five years of that was at sea. 00;12;20;27 - 00;12;24;00 And then I spent some time living in Miami and working for them. 00;12;24;00 - 00;12;26;17 So she has a neat help on that one. You know where to come. 00;12;26;17 - 00;12;27;26 So yeah, yeah, I would be. 00;12;27;26 - 00;12;31;18 I will be picking your brains for Miami because we move quite often, but 00;12;31;23 - 00;12;34;18 usually for people to go onto a cruise, 00;12;34;18 - 00;12;37;18 they'd be like a couple of nights, like night beforehand. 00;12;37;18 - 00;12;43;01 So I know the airport hotel, we really well, I book a lot of those 00;12;43;04 - 00;12;46;23 and a couple of beaches of the Miami Beach hotels 00;12;46;25 - 00;12;47;29 book some of those as well. 00;12;47;29 - 00;12;49;09 But I actually want to go and see 00;12;49;09 - 00;12;53;18 actual Miami itself as opposed to Yeah well Mazing city. 00;12;53;21 - 00;12;54;24 Yeah yeah yeah. 00;12;54;24 - 00;12;56;01 So although we're still 00;12;56;01 - 00;12;58;24 it's also been to Florida sort of eight nine times been to Florida 00;12;58;24 - 00;13;02;18 and never been to Miami And you think that's it's like going to go to France 00;13;02;18 - 00;13;04;04 not going to Paris. You know, it's good. 00;13;04;04 - 00;13;04;25 I miss the outreach. 00;13;04;25 - 00;13;05;26 Yeah, I 00;13;05;26 - 00;13;08;27 you know, when I was living there, I think in the end, I said I had to leave 00;13;08;29 - 00;13;13;13 because otherwise I'd end up leaving in a box from just too much excitement. 00;13;13;15 - 00;13;17;00 I don't I don't know how people in Florida survive living in such an awesome place 00;13;17;00 - 00;13;19;11 every day. There's so much to do. 00;13;19;11 - 00;13;22;10 Well, now you can just jump, you know, if you even if you live in Miami, you can 00;13;22;10 - 00;13;23;18 you can jump on the bright line. 00;13;23;18 - 00;13;25;28 It's what, 3 hours 20 minutes, 4 hours. 00;13;25;28 - 00;13;29;07 But it's like, get to Orlando, stop seeking a dog. 00;13;29;10 - 00;13;31;17 And of course, you can fly down. 00;13;31;17 - 00;13;34;18 But one is opting to stay in the most terrible for the environment. 00;13;34;25 - 00;13;37;08 But also you got to be there to ask beforehand. 00;13;37;08 - 00;13;38;11 You got good check in. There you go. 00;13;38;11 - 00;13;39;26 I'll go get your luggage afterwards. 00;13;39;26 - 00;13;41;19 And what Pfaffenbach? 00;13;41;19 - 00;13;44;17 Yeah. Just stuck with the train somewhat. 00;13;44;17 - 00;13;45;29 Yeah, be on the train. 00;13;45;29 - 00;13;47;12 And especially, you know, 00;13;47;12 - 00;13;50;11 you've just come off a long haul flight as well into Orlando 00;13;50;11 - 00;13;53;11 and then the sort of have it they get on another one. 00;13;53;16 - 00;13;56;29 At that point I think after that many hours a flight not too late. 00;13;56;29 - 00;14;03;19 Norway's put us on the train and get some fresh air in between, you know, easier 00;14;03;21 - 00;14;05;15 to the dash system at Disney 00;14;05;15 - 00;14;09;08 really helps people with disabilities experience the park 00;14;09;10 - 00;14;14;07 We've short a shorter time waiting so it's a bit like if you've ever paid 00;14;14;07 - 00;14;18;25 for the Genie app it's a bit like that, but it's included now. 00;14;18;29 - 00;14;23;16 What is really cool if you do it actually in the park when you arrive, 00;14;23;22 - 00;14;26;19 you can do it there if you want to, or what you can do is 00;14;26;19 - 00;14;28;24 you can do a video call with a cast member. 00;14;28;24 - 00;14;30;17 It's about 30 days beforehand. 00;14;30;17 - 00;14;35;01 And what they do is they will then pull it onto your My Disney Experience app. 00;14;35;01 - 00;14;38;00 This all sounds really complicated, but it starts actually quite easy. 00;14;38;04 - 00;14;41;06 What they would do is every single day they will pre-book in 00;14;41;12 - 00;14;43;19 to attractions for you. So 00;14;43;19 - 00;14;47;06 you know that you've got two attractions before you even turn up at the parks. 00;14;47;11 - 00;14;49;06 So you might say actually. 00;14;49;06 - 00;14;51;23 So again, this is where you would sit down with someone and say, Right, 00;14;51;23 - 00;14;53;05 what right do you really want to do? 00;14;53;05 - 00;14;57;22 I really wouldn't say frozen ever after and test track. 00;14;57;25 - 00;15;00;20 Okay. What? That's you to Epcot. 00;15;00;20 - 00;15;03;19 You could you guarantee to do those on that day 00;15;03;19 - 00;15;07;01 and then when you just arrive you if you got a magic bands 00;15;07;04 - 00;15;09;26 which are definitely recommend getting the magic bands 00;15;09;26 - 00;15;14;02 Disney don't include them anymore even if you stay on site at one of the hotels 00;15;14;04 - 00;15;17;19 get a magic band is a wristband that goes on and you just tap it 00;15;17;21 - 00;15;19;20 to get into the theme parks to pay for stuff. 00;15;19;20 - 00;15;20;27 If you're staying at a hotel. 00;15;20;27 - 00;15;24;24 Also to use those Das reservations as well. 00;15;24;24 - 00;15;28;15 You use that and you just tap it so you're not having to get your wallet out. 00;15;28;17 - 00;15;32;11 Try and find a parking ticket to do for every single person of before 00;15;32;13 - 00;15;33;27 you just tap in your arm. 00;15;33;27 - 00;15;36;16 Fantastic. So lazy. 00;15;36;18 - 00;15;37;18 So it's always so easy. 00;15;37;18 - 00;15;39;27 It's that it's such a cool system. 00;15;39;27 - 00;15;41;10 No, you're right. 00;15;41;10 - 00;15;46;17 It sounds complicated, but once you've once you sort of speak to the cast member 00;15;46;17 - 00;15;50;28 over the phone and they do the video call with you, it all becomes so simple. 00;15;50;28 - 00;15;53;10 It's like, Oh, this is really easy. 00;15;53;10 - 00;15;57;12 And actually you can go the guest services in every park on entrance. 00;15;57;12 - 00;16;00;15 And from there you can also request 00;16;00;15 - 00;16;03;23 equipment, hire a different varieties and so on as well. 00;16;03;23 - 00;16;08;00 So and there's like chill out spaces and, and those places as well. 00;16;08;03 - 00;16;11;01 So they've got this kind of got it all covered now really haven't 00;16;11;01 - 00;16;13;20 they've improved a lot in that sense. 00;16;13;20 - 00;16;14;08 Oh definitely. 00;16;14;08 - 00;16;15;24 And then 00;16;15;24 - 00;16;18;10 when you're actually on the day you then use the app 00;16;18;10 - 00;16;20;19 to then go and find additional ones. 00;16;20;19 - 00;16;23;27 So it's a live system so that a see only so many people 00;16;23;27 - 00;16;27;27 that can go through that the Lightning Lane queue any one time. 00;16;28;04 - 00;16;30;11 So if you jump on. 00;16;30;11 - 00;16;33;01 So for example, we want to go into Millennium Falcon 00;16;33;01 - 00;16;36;21 and Galaxy's Edge, you go on and you see what the return time is for that. 00;16;36;26 - 00;16;39;27 So you can just go and go, okay, we can't make that one because 00;16;39;27 - 00;16;43;23 we've got a dining reservation or Oh yeah, that booking, you can do that. 00;16;43;25 - 00;16;44;24 And then you 00;16;44;24 - 00;16;46;12 we know that you've got something to look forward 00;16;46;12 - 00;16;48;24 to during the equal to the error when you pre-book, 00;16;48;24 - 00;16;51;21 but on the day you can keep doing it and then as soon as you tap 00;16;51;21 - 00;16;54;19 in, you can sort of keep doing them and keep doing them. 00;16;54;19 - 00;16;56;22 So you've always got things to look forward, say, 00;16;56;22 - 00;17;00;05 and it's a great way of see in the park 00;17;00;07 - 00;17;03;23 without looking into some of those queues, because some of those queues can be, 00;17;03;23 - 00;17;07;13 you know, I've seen queues of free hours long sometimes. And 00;17;07;15 - 00;17;09;01 so log time, you know, 00;17;09;01 - 00;17;11;12 a third of your day kind of out the way. 00;17;11;12 - 00;17;13;21 And and for some people that's just not possible. 00;17;13;21 - 00;17;15;27 You can't go in the queue for that amount of time. 00;17;15;27 - 00;17;18;11 Let me ask my and you know, when you're talking to clients 00;17;18;11 - 00;17;22;20 and someone you do, you always find that everyone's fine with using the app 00;17;22;20 - 00;17;26;16 when they're they're on their way face, they're not using roaming and so on. 00;17;26;16 - 00;17;28;13 Is it all straightforward enough? 00;17;28;13 - 00;17;30;12 The wife's pretty good to start with. 00;17;30;12 - 00;17;33;12 It was it wasn't that great. And, you know, 00;17;33;16 - 00;17;36;25 you're not really going to sit there and stream things of Disney plus off of it. 00;17;36;25 - 00;17;39;23 So it's not that sort of powerful, but you can get improvements everywhere. 00;17;39;23 - 00;17;43;14 I've never needed to use roaming whilst over there because within the 00;17;43;14 - 00;17;48;01 theme parks there is Wi-Fi everywhere in your hotel and accommodations. 00;17;48;08 - 00;17;50;04 So it was going to be Wi-Fi. 00;17;50;04 - 00;17;53;11 The app is reasonably easy to use, 00;17;53;17 - 00;17;58;18 but play on it one, you're at home so that you've got an idea how it works. 00;17;58;21 - 00;18;02;29 So for example, you can do things like mobile ordering for food. 00;18;03;01 - 00;18;04;13 You don't have to be in the park to do that. 00;18;04;13 - 00;18;07;10 I can jump onto the app now and I can play on it, 00;18;07;10 - 00;18;10;10 and as soon as I get to the last bit where I've got put in my card details 00;18;10;14 - 00;18;15;07 or confirmed to book it, because you can say if you Katya's in there or just out, 00;18;15;10 - 00;18;18;09 but it's good to go through and play around with those kind of things. 00;18;18;09 - 00;18;21;09 So you're not try to figure it out whilst you're in the theme park. 00;18;21;16 - 00;18;22;20 You've always done it at home. 00;18;22;20 - 00;18;26;12 You know roughly how to kind of do it like anything really well, 00;18;26;12 - 00;18;30;29 I suppose like as he saying with Orlando, the more prep and research time 00;18;30;29 - 00;18;34;18 you've got, the better because there is, you know, you've got the app 00;18;34;18 - 00;18;37;26 in general to manage in terms of your park entrances as well, don't you. 00;18;38;00 - 00;18;39;14 We've left the airport now. 00;18;39;14 - 00;18;41;02 How are we going to get to our accommodation? 00;18;41;02 - 00;18;45;05 What's a kind of the best way to get to the where people are staying. 00;18;45;07 - 00;18;49;08 Well, I think again, it'll come down to individual 00;18;49;10 - 00;18;50;20 requirements, I guess, but 00;18;50;20 - 00;18;56;01 there's accessible transfers that we can arrange, so we'd have to look into 00;18;56;03 - 00;18;59;02 the type of adapted vehicle required. 00;18;59;02 - 00;19;03;00 We can also clients can also hire the Romans adapted vehicles 00;19;03;00 - 00;19;07;20 or depending on the level of accessibility required, 00;19;07;20 - 00;19;09;22 you may just be able to use the public transport 00;19;09;22 - 00;19;13;21 and which is all accessible anyway that busses is the one. 00;19;13;23 - 00;19;16;11 So it would really come down to the individual trip. 00;19;16;11 - 00;19;18;29 But there's loads of different ways and you know, there's 00;19;18;29 - 00;19;21;05 definitely more than one way to look at it as well. 00;19;21;05 - 00;19;24;13 The with the transfers, it obviously depends on where you are staying as well. 00;19;24;13 - 00;19;28;05 We'll get on to accommodation in a second, but if it is going to 00;19;28;06 - 00;19;32;08 if you're staying at Disney, for example, the internal 00;19;32;11 - 00;19;34;23 transportation system, which I think is the third 00;19;34;23 - 00;19;38;00 largest transportation system in the state of Florida, 00;19;38;02 - 00;19;41;15 is that that kind of bake there really well done for 00;19;41;18 - 00;19;44;28 you know with Whitney Wheelchairs and that kind of stuff. 00;19;44;28 - 00;19;49;02 So what if you're staying on site at Disney, you walk on to work? 00;19;49;02 - 00;19;50;12 Well, sort of looked after. 00;19;50;12 - 00;19;54;15 And of course, if you need to rent a car, then there are different carts of cars. 00;19;54;15 - 00;19;58;15 You can hire that to sort of make it easier to kind of get around. 00;19;58;22 - 00;20;02;00 So let's move on to the accommodation. 00;20;02;03 - 00;20;04;01 Like anything, I suppose 00;20;04;01 - 00;20;06;13 where you stay is going to come down to the beginning. 00;20;06;13 - 00;20;09;13 It's going to be quite unique to the person, isn't it? 00;20;09;19 - 00;20;10;15 Absolutely. 00;20;10;15 - 00;20;15;12 And you know, are you doing just one part of Florida 00;20;15;14 - 00;20;20;16 or we just having Disney Area or Orlando area, Is it a twin center? 00;20;20;18 - 00;20;24;05 And then again, when it comes to people with disabilities is 00;20;24;08 - 00;20;26;14 you have lots of different requirements sometimes. 00;20;26;14 - 00;20;30;16 So there may be a requirement for a villa because it could be 00;20;30;16 - 00;20;32;27 that you're traveling with your family, but also carers. 00;20;32;27 - 00;20;37;17 And that's all you need, maybe five or six bedrooms and which, you know, five 00;20;37;17 - 00;20;41;21 or six rooms in a hotel is can you get very costly, where is a six bedroom villa? 00;20;41;23 - 00;20;44;13 And in Kissimmee could be ideal. 00;20;44;13 - 00;20;47;14 There are sadly not loads 00;20;47;14 - 00;20;50;21 of accessible delays in Kissimmee. 00;20;50;24 - 00;20;54;15 The state is aware of the problem and that it is a problem 00;20;54;15 - 00;20;56;09 and they are trying to get more 00;20;56;09 - 00;21;01;17 accessible villas online to sell through, you know, different global markets. 00;21;01;19 - 00;21;02;00 But there 00;21;02;00 - 00;21;05;04 are a handful and those are all quite nation. 00;21;05;04 - 00;21;09;10 They're always and so, you know, two or three of them have proper pools, ice 00;21;09;17 - 00;21;10;28 in and out of the pool. 00;21;10;28 - 00;21;11;23 Most of these, 00;21;11;23 - 00;21;14;24 you know, we would expect the minimums you know, rule and shower for those 00;21;14;24 - 00;21;16;04 with in a wheelchair 00;21;16;04 - 00;21;16;20 their door 00;21;16;20 - 00;21;20;03 frames to be of a standard width which actually most in the state of 00;21;20;05 - 00;21;24;12 Florida are literally the ground floor wet rooms, ground floor bedrooms. 00;21;24;17 - 00;21;27;28 Some require all rooms to be on the ground floor. 00;21;28;01 - 00;21;31;14 And, you know, there are properties out there that exist. 00;21;31;17 - 00;21;34;17 They just you just need to know someone who knows how to find them. 00;21;34;17 - 00;21;38;02 And like with anything, the earlier the better 00;21;38;04 - 00;21;40;18 The earlier, you know, you want to go, the better it is to book. 00;21;40;18 - 00;21;46;23 You can pre-book and you can even book Disney in the villa and book the flights. 00;21;46;23 - 00;21;49;06 When they come out later on you do a crafted book 00;21;49;06 - 00;21;52;13 with all at the same time with us you can add that on later. 00;21;52;15 - 00;21;54;09 So there's there 00;21;54;09 - 00;21;58;02 there are benefits to that and that you're securing the most amazing property. 00;21;58;02 - 00;22;01;04 So book should be the most amazing experience. 00;22;01;11 - 00;22;05;22 Similarly, in Disney, you've got hotels and you've got villas. 00;22;05;24 - 00;22;08;24 Usually in Disney, you're capped at three bedroom villas 00;22;08;24 - 00;22;12;19 as a max, you know, there's a nice blend, of course, and you know, 00;22;12;19 - 00;22;17;15 if you're going to be staying there 7 to 14 nights and 00;22;17;17 - 00;22;17;26 you know 00;22;17;26 - 00;22;21;14 you're going to need two or three rooms, it could be a really amazing experience 00;22;21;14 - 00;22;22;15 to be right in there. 00;22;22;15 - 00;22;24;20 Most all of the action, like you said, 00;22;24;20 - 00;22;27;27 that's perhaps when you need to maybe forget about that car hire, 00;22;28;00 - 00;22;31;28 you know, because it would probably just be shot there like I think we saw. 00;22;31;28 - 00;22;33;08 Yeah. Before. 00;22;33;08 - 00;22;33;13 Yeah. 00;22;33;13 - 00;22;35;28 The cars tend to sit there for about 99% of the time. 00;22;35;28 - 00;22;38;07 So you're paying to hire them. 00;22;38;07 - 00;22;39;24 They sit there for 99% of the time. 00;22;39;24 - 00;22;43;13 You got to pay to fuel them and you got a pizza to park them as well. 00;22;43;13 - 00;22;47;09 That kind of the unwelcome guest, this kind of forever. 00;22;47;12 - 00;22;49;13 It was strange for me personally. 00;22;49;13 - 00;22;53;10 I never high recall when I go to Orlando, I ride puppy transport 00;22;53;10 - 00;22;56;27 or on a taxi to business, that kind of stuff. 00;22;56;27 - 00;23;00;21 But for some people it is essential to have a car to get a ride, 00;23;00;26 - 00;23;05;05 especially if you stay in a villa and you want to go to Toowoomba, for example. 00;23;05;05 - 00;23;07;11 Obviously kids need food now. 00;23;07;11 - 00;23;11;25 Great thing nowadays is also you can just go into Uber, eats an older vehicle there 00;23;11;27 - 00;23;15;05 and again you can go on to Ubereats from the UK 00;23;15;08 - 00;23;19;27 and see what's available and you can almost do like a dummy ordering kind of 00;23;19;29 - 00;23;24;08 line it all up so that when you come and actually arrive you can go Right, 00;23;24;10 - 00;23;28;11 here's my order and the pickup arrive at about the same time that you are, 00;23;28;13 - 00;23;33;08 you will save you a trip to the wall bar that there is obviously huge. 00;23;33;08 - 00;23;36;28 It's like the size of a town in the UK and they so absolute yeah 00;23;37;01 - 00;23;39;28 and he's very impressive to go and say but 00;23;39;28 - 00;23;43;09 don't split my advice is don't stop we did this don't don't split up 00;23;43;09 - 00;23;47;21 because you won't find especially roaming If you have got roaming 00;23;47;27 - 00;23;53;16 you rely on trying to fight each other in this massive supermarket hypermarket. 00;23;53;16 - 00;23;55;10 I suppose so, yeah. 00;23;55;10 - 00;23;58;05 Maybe just do the when I go over in December, I'm just. 00;23;58;05 - 00;24;01;08 I'm just a ubereats delivery just to get it 00;24;01;08 - 00;24;04;08 arrive, smokes a box, got the supermarket. 00;24;04;14 - 00;24;09;01 I used to absolutely love my Friday Friday after work going with Wal-Mart in Miami. 00;24;09;01 - 00;24;10;08 That was my world right day. 00;24;10;08 - 00;24;13;05 I love that last place. 00;24;13;05 - 00;24;17;24 You know, we were talking a little bit about sort of accommodation, having 00;24;17;26 - 00;24;20;26 features, for example, rolling 00;24;20;28 - 00;24;24;14 southwest and wet rooms and so on, and, you know, 00;24;24;21 - 00;24;27;19 making sure door frames on the correct with the for wheelchair users. 00;24;27;19 - 00;24;28;25 But also, 00;24;28;25 - 00;24;30;25 you know, there are other types of accommodation 00;24;30;25 - 00;24;33;19 that would suit but as with deaf for disabilities. 00;24;33;19 - 00;24;35;10 So for example 00;24;35;10 - 00;24;39;26 you know anybody with autism, you might be looking for a more sensory space. 00;24;39;26 - 00;24;44;05 And you know, there are definitely places where we would not recommend. 00;24;44;08 - 00;24;47;11 Yes. For for families traveling with children, with autism 00;24;47;11 - 00;24;49;05 and those that we would recommend. 00;24;49;05 - 00;24;52;16 And so, again, it's about speaking to an expert that you trust 00;24;52;19 - 00;24;55;19 to to recommend those places to you. 00;24;55;22 - 00;24;57;00 But what goes hand in hand with 00;24;57;00 - 00;24;59;22 that is sometimes the property doesn't have everything because that to be honest, 00;24;59;22 - 00;25;04;21 in this day and age, what dose everybody wants everything so quite particular. So, 00;25;04;24 - 00;25;08;05 you know, sometimes it isn't necessarily always going to be the full bundle. 00;25;08;07 - 00;25;11;12 But what we can do is because again, we've got contracts with people 00;25;11;12 - 00;25;15;12 all over the world, we're really lucky that we can use rental equipment companies 00;25;15;12 - 00;25;19;26 and we've got some accessible equipment rental companies in Orlando. 00;25;19;29 - 00;25;22;11 They absolutely never let me down once. 00;25;22;11 - 00;25;28;04 And basically they have everything from profiling beds to feeding machines. 00;25;28;11 - 00;25;32;14 You know, in order to wheels commodes, you can we can pretty much get anything 00;25;32;14 - 00;25;35;12 that's missing from the environment you're going to be staying in 00;25;35;12 - 00;25;38;27 so that company, it will be ready there on arrival for you as well. 00;25;38;27 - 00;25;40;22 So it's, you know, focusing minds as well. 00;25;40;22 - 00;25;45;11 So that's that's that's a nice way to make sure everything is taken care of. 00;25;45;14 - 00;25;45;21 Yeah. 00;25;45;21 - 00;25;49;18 I mean, you can go and stay somewhere that you want to and don't have to worry. 00;25;49;18 - 00;25;51;10 He says you need a profile in bed, 00;25;51;10 - 00;25;54;07 but the place you want to stay in it doesn't have one. 00;25;54;07 - 00;25;55;03 Or the villagers. 00;25;55;03 - 00;25;57;08 How come, for example, at base. 00;25;57;08 - 00;25;59;10 Other than that, it's perfect for you. 00;25;59;10 - 00;26;02;05 It means that you don't have to have your second choice. 00;26;02;05 - 00;26;03;16 I suppose you can 00;26;03;16 - 00;26;06;21 sort of rent the additional things that you need that the hotel or village 00;26;06;21 - 00;26;08;03 doesn't actually have. 00;26;08;03 - 00;26;08;28 Yeah, 00;26;08;28 - 00;26;12;09 the only thing I would always say is in travel and in probably agree 00;26;12;09 - 00;26;13;02 with me on this. 00;26;13;02 - 00;26;17;12 MARTIN Is there are any guarantees in travel that's not now thing 00;26;17;14 - 00;26;20;17 even as you know, a travel company might be able to do a lot for people, 00;26;20;17 - 00;26;22;11 but you can never guarantee anything. 00;26;22;11 - 00;26;23;09 But what we would say is, 00;26;23;09 - 00;26;26;09 is if something doesn't happen, we are at the end of the phone 00;26;26;12 - 00;26;30;27 to be able to ring, to try and make things right and get it to happen. 00;26;31;00 - 00;26;34;15 And so, you know, I think in those instances we need to be 00;26;34;15 - 00;26;38;09 able to kind of laugh it off and say, it's okay, I've got someone I can ring. 00;26;38;16 - 00;26;42;16 Don't you worry, I'm not left here not knowing what to do. 00;26;42;18 - 00;26;45;24 And I think that's a really big, big benefit 00;26;45;28 - 00;26;50;09 to booking with not just an accessible travel expert, 00;26;50;09 - 00;26;56;21 but also a travel counselor, accessible travel expert who's available 24 seven. 00;26;56;24 - 00;26;58;06 There's a small note there on 00;26;58;06 - 00;27;01;22 emergency prepay like preparedness that I'd like to mention as well. 00;27;01;22 - 00;27;04;22 I think it's really worthwhile thinking about, 00;27;04;23 - 00;27;08;09 you know, people who are maybe considering trips to Orlando 00;27;08;11 - 00;27;11;24 who have accessibility requirements and wondering maybe do I just go 00;27;11;24 - 00;27;14;23 and do all of this myself or do I need to go and speak to an expert? 00;27;15;01 - 00;27;18;29 Let me like we say, the stress levels can go through the roof 00;27;19;01 - 00;27;22;09 when trying to organize everything and make sure it's all tied up. 00;27;22;09 - 00;27;26;25 And when you're busy, I think life in general, living life in general, 00;27;26;28 - 00;27;29;25 that can really start to wear people down. 00;27;29;25 - 00;27;32;27 And it can it can really, really get some people down. 00;27;32;27 - 00;27;34;01 So just keep that in mind. 00;27;34;01 - 00;27;38;07 But when traveling as well, we need to think about, you know, 00;27;38;07 - 00;27;43;15 being prepared to handle emergencies and how to aid people 00;27;43;17 - 00;27;45;27 if they're in resort and something does happen. 00;27;45;27 - 00;27;47;23 You know, those things that we don't like to talk about. 00;27;47;23 - 00;27;50;13 But, you know, maybe something did happen. 00;27;50;15 - 00;27;53;19 You know, we'd know what to do during and expect the situations 00;27;53;19 - 00;27;57;09 and we'd know what best advice to give, because we have a fantastic 00;27;57;09 - 00;28;00;21 team of people behind us here in the UK duty to as well. 00;28;00;24 - 00;28;01;28 We can also recommend 00;28;01;28 - 00;28;06;01 the things that you've walked to has done and wish you when traveling. 00;28;06;01 - 00;28;11;10 For instance, doctors, letters, you know, authorizing the use of said equipment or, 00;28;11;12 - 00;28;14;27 you know, detailing the necessity of this equipment or these medications 00;28;14;27 - 00;28;19;08 or these needles, you know, fulls of meds and stuff like that. 00;28;19;08 - 00;28;20;16 Phone numbers for the country. 00;28;20;16 - 00;28;24;00 Does everybody go on holiday knowing what that nine, nine nine is for the land? 00;28;24;00 - 00;28;27;26 Because it's probably not 999 is what I keep telling people that like, is it 00;28;27;26 - 00;28;28;07 not like. 00;28;28;07 - 00;28;31;22 No, no, no, no. That's not right. 00;28;31;23 - 00;28;33;00 It's 999. 00;28;33;00 - 00;28;35;03 Yeah. So, you know, it's that kind of stuff. 00;28;35;03 - 00;28;38;03 I think we kind of what we try to do is to try to think, is everything okay? 00;28;38;08 - 00;28;40;25 Yeah, sure. And make it as easy and hassle free as possible. 00;28;40;25 - 00;28;42;21 And as you said, the duty officers always there. 00;28;42;21 - 00;28;47;01 So, I mean, they've had to do deal with some weird things over the years 00;28;47;07 - 00;28;51;06 and some just things that you just can't plan for and they're there. 00;28;51;06 - 00;28;53;18 And if there's a problem that they're 24 hours a day 00;28;53;18 - 00;28;57;14 to pick up the phone, speak to them, and we can do our best to sort it out 00;28;57;17 - 00;28;58;21 as soon as possible. 00;28;58;21 - 00;29;03;24 And pretty much every single time we can sort out for every quickly 00;29;03;24 - 00;29;08;04 so that it doesn't really sort of interrupt the rest of your trip, does it? 00;29;08;06 - 00;29;09;12 Absolutely. 00;29;09;12 - 00;29;13;01 So just to kind of summarize, there are a lot of things 00;29;13;01 - 00;29;17;03 that you need to think of when you go when you when you go travel anyway. 00;29;17;06 - 00;29;21;18 But for for people with disabilities, there's 1,000,001 00;29;21;18 - 00;29;24;21 different things you need to think about when you go into Orlando. 00;29;24;26 - 00;29;28;21 And I think having someone like Steve, who is an expert who can 00;29;28;21 - 00;29;31;26 then help you and is always there to help, it's both. 00;29;31;26 - 00;29;32;13 It's where I go. 00;29;32;13 - 00;29;35;08 The other thing is that people always say, Oh, it must be really expensive. 00;29;35;08 - 00;29;36;08 Then to book of you, 00;29;36;08 - 00;29;40;06 we work directly with Universal Orlando, we work directly with Disney. 00;29;40;11 - 00;29;43;13 So it's no different to trying to book this yourself. 00;29;43;21 - 00;29;45;14 So it's a no brainer really, is it? 00;29;45;14 - 00;29;49;12 If you're going to go and book to go and stay in a Disney hotel, 00;29;49;14 - 00;29;52;14 you can be paid exactly the same price as you as with us. 00;29;52;16 - 00;29;53;12 So stop right there. 00;29;53;12 - 00;29;55;29 Really, Why would you go and do why would you go into that thing? 00;29;55;29 - 00;29;59;13 So that's the thing is like most people are quite smart in that 00;29;59;13 - 00;30;03;21 when they travel somewhere that far away from home, they want the added protection 00;30;03;24 - 00;30;07;17 package, protection insurance as well, which is what we can give. 00;30;07;17 - 00;30;10;15 But if everything is sales, you can't. 00;30;10;15 - 00;30;12;24 And then you're dealing with everything yourself. 00;30;12;24 - 00;30;16;20 And so I think for those who would embark upon the challenge on their 00;30;16;20 - 00;30;20;07 own, I would wish them luck. 00;30;20;09 - 00;30;23;01 Fingers crossed nothing goes wrong. 00;30;23;01 - 00;30;23;29 Yeah, kind of thing. 00;30;23;29 - 00;30;27;05 But at the same time, you know, we laugh about this, but 00;30;27;07 - 00;30;29;19 in a serious tone 00;30;29;19 - 00;30;32;20 that needs to be more communication. 00;30;32;20 - 00;30;37;26 There needs to be more socialization discussion of these things across 00;30;37;29 - 00;30;38;28 all channels. 00;30;38;28 - 00;30;42;22 You know, on socials, but also in agencies, in travel, companies 00;30;42;22 - 00;30;43;17 around the world. 00;30;43;17 - 00;30;47;28 And we need to get accessible travel and about the place, 00;30;48;00 - 00;30;49;17 because that's that'd be fun. 00;30;49;17 - 00;30;52;26 It's tough right now. And, 00;30;52;28 - 00;30;54;25 you know, it's come a long way. 00;30;54;25 - 00;30;57;25 It hasn't gone anywhere near as far as it needs to go. 00;30;58;02 - 00;31;01;11 You know, we're seeing really awesome things opening up around the world, 00;31;01;11 - 00;31;05;12 like Athens have now just launched these really awesome beach chairs. 00;31;05;12 - 00;31;09;04 So you can, you know, people who are in wheelchairs can now actually enter the sea 00;31;09;07 - 00;31;11;12 and they've got their own remote control to get in and out. 00;31;11;12 - 00;31;15;04 And they've done that over 200 beaches around around the house. 00;31;15;07 - 00;31;18;04 And, you know, so there's things like that where we are 00;31;18;04 - 00;31;19;11 moving in the right direction. 00;31;19;11 - 00;31;24;04 But as a whole, accessible travel is actually very stressful 00;31;24;06 - 00;31;28;26 and can be really, really challenging, not just on the individual side 00;31;28;28 - 00;31;31;12 with disabilities, but also those around them. 00;31;31;12 - 00;31;36;17 And I think what we're trying to do here is to say, you know, we're experienced 00;31;36;17 - 00;31;39;17 and that the small boats are 00;31;39;17 - 00;31;42;15 the more finicky areas of these types of trips. 00;31;42;15 - 00;31;46;16 And, you know, we want to be able to try and take that stress away. 00;31;46;16 - 00;31;51;01 And you just want to be able to put your names down, pay for it and go in there, 00;31;51;04 - 00;31;52;10 which is how it is. 00;31;52;10 - 00;31;54;20 That's how it should be for everyone. 00;31;54;20 - 00;31;59;01 So why should it be any different for people with accessibility requirements 00;31;59;04 - 00;32;02;22 and exactly which try to make it as easy and hassle free for everyone to go 00;32;02;22 - 00;32;04;10 and have an amazing time? 00;32;04;10 - 00;32;07;12 Orlando's When there's kind of places that sometimes it's a one off trip. 00;32;07;12 - 00;32;10;29 Sometimes people go every couple of years. 00;32;11;03 - 00;32;14;17 I've got people who go free four times each year, 00;32;14;20 - 00;32;17;24 but there are always going to be different questions to ask every time. 00;32;17;24 - 00;32;20;16 And if you go a lot, there's always some new things 00;32;20;16 - 00;32;25;07 and new ways of doing things as well as to have experts helping you out. 00;32;25;08 - 00;32;28;00 It's why not? It is a no brainer. 00;32;28;00 - 00;32;30;19 So saying and every day is a school day more. 00;32;30;19 - 00;32;32;02 And because, you know 00;32;32;02 - 00;32;35;24 yeah, I never thought to go on ubereats to see what it was available in Orlando. 00;32;35;24 - 00;32;36;22 Yeah clever sausage. 00;32;36;22 - 00;32;37;03 Yeah. 00;32;37;03 - 00;32;38;13 You see, all this is what I do 00;32;38;13 - 00;32;42;15 when I when I go over up in speeds the warmness of things at that. 00;32;42;15 - 00;32;46;13 But at the same time I think I haven't got it because my flight lands a flight. 00;32;46;13 - 00;32;50;29 I'm flying via Dublin so my flight lands at 8:00 at night. 00;32;50;29 - 00;32;54;02 So by the time I get to where I'm staying, 00;32;54;05 - 00;32;56;09 it's going to be after they've cleared him up race 00;32;56;09 - 00;33;00;05 and a bit like flown in midnight since and that will tip actually 00;33;00;06 - 00;33;04;03 if you fly via Dublin, why are you getting your request for it. 00;33;04;05 - 00;33;05;14 Yeah, in Dublin. Yeah. 00;33;05;14 - 00;33;07;11 So. Yeah. Hi. How are you doing. 00;33;07;11 - 00;33;08;06 Yeah. Yeah. 00;33;08;06 - 00;33;10;01 Because, because I live in France. 00;33;10;01 - 00;33;12;24 I've got there's no direct flights to Orlando anyway so 00;33;12;24 - 00;33;15;26 it's either go via London, it's go via New York. 00;33;15;26 - 00;33;19;02 I go through, through passport control New York, 00;33;19;02 - 00;33;22;14 I'll be there for the entire holiday or go via Dublin. 00;33;22;14 - 00;33;27;16 And last time I went I flew with Air Lingus from Manchester so on a work trip 00;33;27;18 - 00;33;30;20 and I was really impressed, really nice and I think 00;33;30;20 - 00;33;32;01 was actually really good airport. 00;33;32;01 - 00;33;34;28 I wasn't very impressed with the people who went to Frew. 00;33;34;28 - 00;33;38;24 She's gluten intolerance and they came round, make sure it was good for her. 00;33;38;27 - 00;33;40;25 She had a really nice meal. She really enjoyed. 00;33;40;25 - 00;33;41;17 She said that she would one 00;33;41;17 - 00;33;45;00 the best meals she had on the trip was actually the one on the plane. 00;33;45;07 - 00;33;47;16 It's kind of good to hear that. 00;33;47;16 - 00;33;50;22 And yeah, so yeah, you know, I forgot about that. 00;33;50;22 - 00;33;53;05 Claire at Immigration in Dublin on the way out. 00;33;53;05 - 00;33;54;27 That is amazing because clearing 00;33;54;27 - 00;33;57;17 immigration in the United States is always interesting. 00;33;57;17 - 00;33;59;28 Anyway, so that's not a bad show. 00;33;59;28 - 00;34;03;17 And you know, they've got a really reasonable business class face 00;34;03;19 - 00;34;04;23 that you go, Yeah, yeah. 00;34;04;23 - 00;34;10;00 And also land in the new Terminal C, which is the brand new one. 00;34;10;03 - 00;34;11;19 And it's really, really nice. 00;34;11;19 - 00;34;16;20 It's the to get free security coming back to do your flight back to 00;34;16;20 - 00;34;21;04 the UK is a lot quicker And then also likewise when you land 00;34;21;04 - 00;34;23;13 especially if you do the immigration in Dublin 00;34;23;13 - 00;34;27;19 you actually get off the plane, look at your luggage and then go as it. 00;34;27;19 - 00;34;31;15 There's no passport, control it, you just walk and you all just think. 00;34;31;15 - 00;34;34;14 When Brightline does their extension into Disney 00;34;34;15 - 00;34;37;01 because it's still being decided where that stops going to be. 00;34;37;01 - 00;34;40;06 They're still arguing between Universal and Disney, which one? 00;34;40;06 - 00;34;42;20 It's going to be nearest, but there will be a line 00;34;42;20 - 00;34;46;02 that will go through Disney of actually be and get the train straight to Disney. 00;34;46;04 - 00;34;49;27 So so much easier in the future But just been out to get down to 00;34;49;27 - 00;34;55;11 Miami on the train is already there already for already at Madison. 00;34;55;14 - 00;34;56;05 Well for a country 00;34;56;05 - 00;35;02;10 that's not great on public transportation the train network is pretty small. 00;35;02;13 - 00;35;03;03 They had 00;35;03;03 - 00;35;06;09 this this is a really welcome addition. 00;35;06;09 - 00;35;09;06 And I actually will be using the bright line to get down to Miami. 00;35;09;06 - 00;35;09;25 So we'll definitely be 00;35;09;25 - 00;35;12;25 tapping you up for places to go because I don't just want to go to the 00;35;13;01 - 00;35;15;25 tourist traps and things, although I will take a break. 00;35;15;25 - 00;35;17;17 I'll go to break anyway. 00;35;17;17 - 00;35;19;29 That's right. Now that's all gets rid of. 00;35;19;29 - 00;35;21;16 Oh, that's my accent. 00;35;21;16 - 00;35;22;28 Actually, I met Brickell. 00;35;22;28 - 00;35;25;27 I how to say that posh Brickell. 00;35;26;03 - 00;35;28;03 But either way, that's for another podcast. 00;35;28;03 - 00;35;32;02 But I could talk all day about Miami Australia with there and all. 00;35;32;04 - 00;35;33;01 Oh okay. 00;35;33;01 - 00;35;36;02 We can do another podcast about my lovely accent. 00;35;36;08 - 00;35;40;07 Invitation accepted. 00;35;40;09 - 00;35;42;04 Well, thank you very much for coming on the podcast 00;35;42;04 - 00;35;45;11 Eve and telling us all about how people with disabilities 00;35;45;11 - 00;35;48;23 can get an experience once in a lifetime trip to Orlando. 00;35;48;28 - 00;35;51;05 Thanks for having me on, Martin. I really appreciate it. 00;35;51;05 - 00;35;53;15 Have a great day. You too,
What this episode covers
