Acknowledging Human Trafficking Prevention Month with Catherine Paterno

from Aging Flipped with Debi Talbert · host Debi Talbert

You didn’t think it could happen in your own home, did you?Or that it could be the child you know from across the street? How about the boy or girl whose face gets lost in the crowd because they don’t have a family and a solidified place to call home?Human trafficking is all around us, and it is not just an international battle that we’re facing. Right here, right in front of us, it’s prevalent and we need to be more aware, start having those conversations with our kids, and look out for signs.January is National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month. Every year since 2010, the President has dedicated the month to raising awareness about the different forms of human trafficking, also known as modern slavery, and educating people about this crime and how to spot it.I want to really bring this forward and remove the stigma surrounding human trafficking, so I invited this week's guest, Catharine Paterno, to join me in this conversation and provide her own knowledge and experience. She is dedicated to serving all the families and children she meets and is beyond thrilled to be working for Opportunity. Cat is devoted to providing families with the support and resources they need to create happy, healthy, and safe environments for their children. With the right resources at our disposal and this newfound knowledge from this podcast episode, you will know what signs to look out for and to help prevent human trafficking.
