“Act of Bravery”

August 13, 2024 Daily Devotion: “Act of Bravery” Philippians 2:3-5 New International Version 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. Putting others before us is an act of bravery. It might not seem like it, but putting others first means laying down our pride, humbling ourselves, and thinking of others. This is, as this verse says, the same attitude that Jesus had. Jesus said in Luke 9:48, “Whoever is the least among all of you, he is the greatest.” It takes real courage to be okay with being the least. We can be brave to put others first. We can pray to see people the way God sees them and trust that He will humble us to think of others as better than ourselves. In putting others first, we’re glorifying our Heavenly Father, God can cleanse our hearts of selfishness and strengthen us in humility. We are called to be like Jesus and bravely put others first.
