Acts 2 CEB (Common English Bible)
from Luke-Acts CEB (Common English Bible) · host Lucius from Cyrene, one of the prophets and teachers at Antioch
Now we meet the main actor of the book of acts. Definitely not Peter definitely not any of the other apostles. Of course Peter is important, but not near as important as the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit, which Jesus pours out in his ascension, in fact, one of the theories of the book of Luke is that Jesus ascension is the key of the climax And that it could be said that one of the reasons for that is is it it is at the Ascension that even put out the Holy Spirit the Holy Spirit, who early in Luke’s gospel John the Baptist said Jesus would baptize people with and now here is the story of that. We read about Praising God we read about speaking other languages we read about wonder and mystified feelings read about so many people hearing the mighty works of God in their own language and their mother tongue obviously there’s a lot of people who will have a lot of opinions about this. I’ve read some of those opinions. I think that we could get lost in those opinions, a little too much the opinions of whether or not to speak in tongues the opinion of what that even means the opinion of this one guy said that They weren’t even speaking in tongues. They were just speaking in their own natural language and anyway I’m sure you probably have your opinion. I feel like I don’t hold an opinion too strong except that speaking so the people could understand seems to be a key point in this whole story
