Picture: Lindsay Dentlinger/EWNThe Parliamentary Ad Hoc Committee probing allegations of corruption in the criminal justice system has found no evidence linking Police Minister Senzo Mchunu and senior officials to criminal networks.But the committee’s draft report has raised unresolved integrity concerns against Mchunu, who has been on special leave for over a year.The committee continued discussions into the draft report and made further recommendations today, as it rushes to meet this month’s deadline.The latest version of the ad hoc committee’s draft report has cleared most high-profile witnesses of any criminal conduct or links to cartels in the disbanding of the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT).The witnesses whom the committee has made no criminal findings against include Senzo Mchunu, suspended Deputy National Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya, and IDAC head Andrea Johnson.Committee content advisor Christine Silkstone reminded the committee that it is not a court of law or a prosecuting body, before tabling the findings."On Minister Mchunu, the report finds executive accountability and unresolved integrity concerns, but does not find a proven corrupt agreement or cartel instruction. Around Lieutenant General Shadrack Sibiya, the report finds serious unresolved issues and makes referrals, but does not find that he acted for Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala, Brown Mogotsi, or an organised crime network."Committee members from most parties called the report “watered down” and argued that it ignored most of their recommendations.African National Congress (ANC) Memeber of Parliament (MP) Khusela Diko."We get the comment made about how some recommendations would have been moderated.
