Add It Up

This week, we're adding up all our grudges, and considering books and pop culture picks where the addition may be just too much to handle. Plus, we're using Excel for our mental health, planning our villainous futures, and relating hard to Steve Buscemi from Billy Madison. We also get a visit from Louise the Podcat, who reminds Amy how stupid human skin is. Listen to "Add It Up," the song from Violent Femmes that inspired this week's theme. (And here's the clip from Reality Bites with the early '90s smokeshow Ethan Hawke singing "Add It Up") _____ A Broad's book: Order Dig Me Out by our own Amy Lee Lillard now! _____ Our picks from Broads and Books Episode 102: Add It Up Novels: Amy: The Husbands, Chandler Baker Erin: Convenience Store Woman, Sayaka Murata (Translated by Ginny Tapley Takemori) Other Books: Amy: Tales the Devil Told Me, Jen Fawkes (watch our recent Broads and Books event with Jen!) Erin: The Stepford Wives, Ira Levin Pop Culture: Amy: Timeless (Hulu) Erin: Love Fraud (Showtime/Amazon) _____ Broads and Books is the funny and feminist book podcast you need in your life! Each episode Amy and Erin choose a unique theme. Then we choose two fiction books, two other genre books (short story collections, memoir, non-fiction, true crime, poetry, etc.), and two pop culture picks based on that theme. We surprise each other with our picks, talk about why we like them, and give you unexpected recommendations for every reading taste. Along the way, we share embarrassing stories, pitch amazing-slash-crackpot business ideas, implicate ourselves in future crimes, check in on our Podcats, and so much more. Broads and Books is fresh, funny, thought-provoking, and basically the best time you'll have all week. Broads and Books is the funny and feminist book podcast you need in your life!
