What is your favorite type of music? Hi, welcome to the Daily Grateful. I'm Michael Gross working to get my voice back. All right, I'm going to have to take my buddy Ted Webb's advice.

And I'm going to do this. I'm going to go gargle with saltwater, warm saltwater. I've done it before and it's helped. I just hate doing it.

And he told me many, many years ago, he said he's no longer with us, but he was a radio professional in this market for more than 50 years. Just fabulous guy. I knew how to do production. When I was a baby radio guy, he was my helper, man.

He was my go-to guy for advice. What do you do in the throat? It's bad when pollen's out, gargle saltwater. Oh man, warm saltwater.

I did man. I matched it up and I gargled it down. I didn't swallow it, but I gargled it spit it out in about 20 minutes later. The voice was better.

I'm not going to do that for this podcast, but maybe the next one. I'm going to record after this one. All right. What's your favorite kind of music?

People ask me that all the time. And I don't have an answer for him because I like everything. There is no type of music that I do not like. I love classical music.

I love big band music. I grew up. I'm a baby boomer. You know, I am a boomer and I grew up with parents from the greatest generation in the world.

And my dad always had Glen Miller on in the house. I listened to those albums all the time and just loved them. The way that Glen Miller would arrange the music. The way, oh gosh, it was just absolutely fabulous.

So that's that's one thing. Like big band music, love classical music, love contemporary rock and roll music, love the Beatles music. You know what it does? It just lifts our soul.

It really does. I'm very grateful for the feelings when a song captures emotions. That just kind of swirl inside you. My friend John Clary, who once told me back when we were in junior high school, he said, the Beatles have written a song about every bad thing that can happen to you and you can relate to it or every interesting thing that's happened to you.

And you know, like when you find a new girlfriend, before I've got another girl, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, just comes to mind. Song became one of my anthems at one point in my life. Not a great one, but still a good anthem. I will come into the studio at night and I will put these really good headphones on.

And now I will use this really good, wonderful new mixer, this audio interface that I just got. Used to use the old one, which also did a marvelous job. And I will listen to music to the point of sometimes it just brings me to tears. That's how much I like music.

I saw, I saw from the movie Coda, the young lady that stars in that sing both sides now by Joni Mitchell. I sat here and cried. It was that good. It was that good.

And then I heard Joni Mitchell sing it just recently at the Grammys. And I did the same thing. It's just amazing. Music will take you back to the good times in your life.

It can just take you back to a cherished memory or a cherished relationship or just a wonderful time in your life. I remember when we moved to this little place in Michigan called Mill Lake, we moved from Battle Creek, Michigan out to the country to a little place called Mill Lake, which was that if you want to see Mill Lake, go to my YouTube channel, Michael Crows and look for the video, Mill Lake, because when I was there 16, 17 years ago, I made a little video about it. But I remember when we came down Mill Lake Road after coming down M37, training on to Mill Lake Road and coming down what in those days I thought was a giant hill. You will see in the video that it's just a little hill, but I was a tiny little guy then.

But I remember going down there and going on and as we were driving down the road in the back of my brain, believe it or not, was a Count Basie song that I had heard on the radio. And that song just kept replaying in my head as we drove down. And I saw where we were going to move to music does everything for you. It's a universal language.

It is something that I am very, very grateful for. What is your favorite kind of music? Do you like rock? Do you like country?

I never used to like country until 1964 when we moved to Florida and my dad joined the VFW and they had a dance every Friday night and there was a country band that came in there. And I would have to go to the dance because the whole family would go to the dance and go on the innocent country music. Oh my God, these people were amazing. They were just absolutely amazing musicians.

And I got so deep into it. Keep your mind open. Enjoy good music. Be grateful for it.

Tomorrow, it's podcasting day. We're going to talk about podcasting. We'll see you then.
