Summary
Addressing Our (Mis) Education: Discussing the Issues with Performance-Based Learning Environments We are covering Education this week and debunking traditions and norms that have overstayed their welcome in modern education. Performance-based settings, further intensified by arbitrary time constraints, have changed learning environments for the worse. Rather than nurturing a healthy relationship towards learning and respecting that we each have different learning profiles, educational institutions reduce learning to a series of competitions, incentives and rewards. As we learn, and adapt, in order to excel in performance-based and time-sensitive learning environments, our objectives shifts from learning the material to competing with our peers. True mastery is replaced by recall and recognition gimmicks that allow us to retain information up until we finish writing the exams. There are many ways to learn, and many more ways to teach. This video discusses the need to remove performance metrics and time constraints to learning, and allow each person to learn, with a focus on the material itself. #Education #BellCurveTheory #DebunktheMyth #Reform We are covering Education this week and debunking traditions and norms that have overstayed their welcome in modern education. Episode Description
Addressing Our (Mis) Education: Discussing the Issues with Performance-Based Learning Environments
We are covering Education this week and debunking traditions and norms that have overstayed their welcome in modern education.
