Upon its release, Adolescence achieved significant viewership success globally, amassing record breaking viewership and in the process became the third most watched Netflix's most popular English-language series of all time exceeding 124 million views.[4] Adolescence also became the first streaming show in the UK to place at the top of the Barb Audiences weekly television ratings. [5]The series received universal critical acclaim for acting performances, particularly those of Cooper, Graham and Erin Doherty, writing, directing and cinematography style where each episode was filmed in a one continuous take.[6] [7]The series has sparked widespread conversations about the themes it explores and their impact on the adolescents including online misogyny and youth vulnerability.
