No Brasil, segundo o relatório Situação Mundial da Infância 2021, feito pelo Unicef, um a cada seis adolescentes entre 10 e 19 anos sofre algum transtorno mental. O mesmo estudo aponta que o suicídio é a terceira maior causa de morte entre jovens de 15 a 19 anos na América Latina. Pela primeira vez, em 2021, a Sociedade Brasileira de Pediatria incluiu o tema da saúde mental entre crianças e jovens no Tratado de Pediatria. A PUC Minas, atenta aos fenômenos da contemporaneidade, realiza neste mês o Congresso Internacional de Saúde Mental que busca promover diálogo sobre o suicídio. Neste episódio do PUC Play, a jornalista Michelle Stammet conversa com a professora do Programa de Pós-graduação em Psicologia e da Faculdade de Psicologia e uma das organizadoras do Congresso Internacional de Saúde Mental, Jacqueline Moreira, sobre adolescência e saúde mental.
