Key highlights of the cooperation include: Energy Independence and Nuclear Growth: Crude Oil: Hungary’s MOL Group purchased $500 million in U.S. crude oil to deepen strategic energy ties. Nuclear Expansion: The U.S. is supporting a design study for the deployment of up to 10 American Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) in Hungary, a project with a potential value of $20 billion. Plant Longevity: Westinghouse signed agreements to explore extending the life of Hungary’s Paks 1 nuclear power plant using American technology. Defense and Regional Security: HIMARS Procurement: Hungary announced a $700 million purchase of U.S. High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS) to enhance deterrence on NATO’s Eastern Flank.
