Advent 2025 part 4

Preaching from Luke 2:22-40, our final Advent Sermon from Pastor Hugh Chalk. In this final message of the Christmas season, we’re invited to slow down after the celebrations and ask an important question: now that Christ has come, what happens next? Reflecting on Luke’s account of Simeon and Anna at the temple, we’re reminded that Jesus’ birth is not the end of the story but the beginning of God’s great work of redemption. Simeon and Anna had waited faithfully for the Messiah, and when they finally saw Him, they recognised in this child the light, salvation, and hope God had promised, not just for Israel, but for the whole world. Their response calls us to consider our own: will we simply pack Christmas away, or will we let the presence of “God-with-us” shape our lives, our relationships, our faith, and our future?
