Advent Beyond the Manger

from Pneuma Podcast

Based on Isaiah 9:6-7 and Mark 13:26-31 Advent Beyond the Manger is a reflect on the advent season. In times like this many people go out of their way to put a smile on somebody’s face by giving out gifts. Despite COVID-19 the tradition is in full swing for many, whether they believe in the reason for advent or not. This podcast call believers to look away from the capitalistic and ritualized commercialization of the seasons around the world to the real reason why the first advent happened and in fact to the second advent when Jesus Christ would appear. The Church of God must remember that we are in this world but not of this world and we cannot therefore live by the dictates of the system of this world. We must continually look ahead of what has been promised and what is coming instead of focusing on the past, or on the manger because the more we focus our attention on the past or the present the more we want to remain there. The present is only as good as the decisions that we make for tomorrow, this expectation is what advent is about.
