Advent - Hope

Heavenly Father, rich in mercyThe promise keeper for all generationsI still myself before you, the calm in the chaos.Longing for more for my friends, my family, my city and my worldLonging for hopeThe people walking in darkness have seen a great light,and yet, I see darkness stealing hope and joy everydayAs I bring these before you, all my hurt, bitterness and fears,I return to the baby at BethlehemHope for all mankind, in a lowly stableFill me with the hope of Mary,the knowledge that this child is the fulfilment of your promisesAs I rejoice in the birth of the saviour, lead me to see the world in the knowledge that hopehas comeThat Hope has a name that is greater than every situationAs I pray, let Hope be my anthem, the reason to pray, and the outcome of my prayersHope has comeThe people now walk in the lightAnd the light has overcome the darknessAmen.Luke 1:39-55, Isaiah 9:2-3, John 1:5 , Psalm 52:9, Luke 2:6-7
