Advent Moment: Short Reflection Wednesday 10th December
from A Moment to Pause - a short daily Christmas reflection · host The Oblates
A very good morning! Today's reflection is by Kirk Jacob. We begin: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Today’s Gospel focuses on Jesus inviting us to bring our heavy laden and he will give us rest. In December, many families experience much heavy laden as they are burdened to think of getting the perfect Christmas presents, making the house look pristeen, put up Christmas lights and decorate the Christmas Tree. And Yes, don’t forget the Turkey and Christmas pud! If that small list hasn’t exhausted you, the ads on TV no doubt will! Stress levels are very high, people tend to land up in debt!. Jesus invites us to breathe Rest! Rest! Rest! A real challenge for all of us! Yes indeed Jesus wants the best for us - be it gentleness, patience and rest this Christmas! The likes of which our High Streets can’t provide ! A final thought from Henri Nouwen “Sometimes I think of life as a big wagon wheel with many spokes. In the middle is the hub. Often in life, it looks like we are running around the rim trying to reach everybody and everything. But God says, “Start in the hub; live in the hub. Then you will be connected with all the spokes, and you won’t have to run so fast.” Thank you for joining us today #advent #prayer #faith
