Advent — The Advent of Peace

This message presses for a biblical definition of peace rather than the world's. Worldly peace is the absence of conflict — personal preference coming to pass. Jesus' peace, drawn from John 16:33 and Philippians 4:7 , is presence in the storm, not its removal. The Hebrew greeting shalom aleichem — how is your peace? — points past tranquility to wholeness of body, mind, and soul. Isaiah 53 locates the cost: the punishment that brought us peace was laid on the Suffering Servant. Christ does not merely bring peace; he is our peace. The application is practical: pursue peace with others even in strained family seasons, find peace within by trusting what God says about you over the lies, and embrace the Prince of Peace himself through reconciliation purchased at the cross.
