This was true from the people of Israel as well as for us.When the nation of Israel rejected God as their King, they brought unrest and distress onto themselves.The kings that ruled over them were not so great.But there was one king, David, who was the best of the kings.Each of those kings lead them deeper into unrest and eventually as exiles and slaves into neighboring nations.But God promised them he would bring a new king and this new king would be called Almighty God, Prince Of Peace, and Wonderful Counselor, and that his kingdom would never end.That king arrived after 100's of years of waiting most unexpectedly, in a barn in Bethlehem.Through Jesus, God would re-establish himself as king forever and ever.When we live with God as our king, we live under the Prince Of Peace.
