Editor: As a school board member, I had the opportunity to hand out a few diplomas recently. It was an exhilarating experience to see the joy on the faces of the graduates. As they begin the next chapter in their lives, whether entering college, the armed forces, or the work force, they will enter another informal school, often called the “school of hard knocks.” If going to college, they need to seek guidance to help direct them into areas of specialization with good employment opportunities, avoiding areas such as gender studies, underwater basket weaving, etc., as they are bad debt...
