Affairs Part 1: The Pros and Cons

from The Stay or Go Podcast for Women Considering Divorce · host Britta Jo

Episode 20: 🚨 Before you listen: Please note that this conversation explores affairs from the perspective of the women who have or are currently having them. If you are someone whose partner is the one who had the affair, listening to this may be difficult or triggering. If that's you, I highly suggest skipping this one and listening to Episode 105 instead, which focuses entirely on supporting those whose partners have had affairs.Hello, my lovelies! 💖This is the episode many of you have been waiting for! After a few bumps in the road, I’m back at the mic, grounded and ready to dive into the intricate topic of affairs. In this two-part series, we’ll break down the pros and cons of affairs with a realistic approach. Remember, these are just thoughts and stories, so always check in with your inner truth. 💡We’ll explore the messy and complex world of infidelity, its impact on personal growth, and what choosing an affair might really mean. If you're in or considering an affair, it’s crucial to understand the implications. I’m sharing three pros and two cons from my experiences and those of my clients, highlighting both the highs and lows.### Pros:1. Realizing what's been missing in your life. 🌸 Many women marry for stability but later crave deeper physical and emotional intimacy.2. Awakening to your sexuality and desires, transforming your understanding of love and fulfillment. 💕3. Show up for yourself and make a move forward towards honoring what you desire most and is missing. 🌿### Cons:1. Labeling yourself as a bad person. 😔 The guilt and mind games can be overwhelming, but it's crucial to challenge harmful narratives.2. Emotional turmoil from secrecy and lying. Affairs can highlight unmet needs but also bring significant emotional challenges. We’ll also discuss the stereotypes around women who have affairs, the cultural and religious influences on our views, and how these issues are symptoms of deeper problems in marriages. The roles we think we’re supposed to play are not enough. Women are asking for more—emotional connection, intimacy, and authenticity.Affairs are not the problem but a symptom of deeper issues. Just like in *Les Mis*, where the main character is punished for stealing bread, we need to look beyond the surface and address the root causes.Join me as we peel back the layers and embrace the possibility of living a fully expressed and authentic life. 💖Don’t forget to rate and review if you enjoyed this episode!
