A welfare check led police to the residence, where both were discovered deceased. Their two young children were inside the home at the time but were not physically harmed. Investigators have said there were no signs of forced entry. Police later identified Monique’s ex husband, Michael McKee, as the suspect, after tracing a vehicle seen on surveillance near the home shortly before the killings and leaving shortly afterward. McKee was arrested in Illinois on January 10 and is charged with aggravated murder.
