What this episode covers
We recorded this episode on May 5, 2020 with special guests Danielle Barnard & Esther Battle! Danielle is a legal advocate for sexual assault survivors in Berrien County, MI. Esther is an Elementary Math teacher for KIPP in Indianapolis, IN. They led us through an important discussion on the Tara Reade digital rape allegation against Joe Biden. We also talked a bit about the future of Adventist Higher Education in light of the pandemic. Here are some helpful links that we found useful in preparation for this discussion: Katie Halper Interview with Tara Reade: https://soundcloud.com/katie-halper/j... Tara Reade interview on The Hill: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmVUQ... NY Times Reporting: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/12/us... USA Today discrepancies article: https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinio... Joe Biden Statement: https://medium.com/@JoeBiden/statemen... Reade did this interview with Megan Kelly after we recorded the episode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5HeZi... Some other helpful resources were shared throughout the episode: RAINN is an organization that supports survivors and provides support. If you or someone that you know is a survivor of sexual violence, here is a resource that can provide help https://www.rainn.org/about-national-... Other associations advocating against abuse both inside and outside of the Adventist church: https://www.riseupagainstabuse.com/ , https://www.bucketbrigadeagainstabuse... *A note from Danielle: This is a link to a great TED talk that discusses a new way to talk about sex. I loved this and it is a resource I use with the survivors I work with, but also a good tool that can be taught at all ages. https://www.facebook.com/374709019942... *A note from Jordan Smart: An article from The Hill references by myself was incorrectly dated for May 5, 2020. It was in fact published on April 5, 2019* We had our usual PMI segment for you as well. We stream live every week on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/AffirmativeI... !
