Some will mock our message of kindness and generosity, of love and grace. Many will reject this message and instead choose to bow down at the alters of wealth and power, the alters influence and prestige. Many in the world reject this message, but those who live their lives embracing it become the stones God uses to build this temple, to remake and reshape the world into what it is intended to be. I Peter puts the invitation this way, “Come to him, a living stone, though rejected by mortals yet chosen and precious in God’s sight, and like living stones let yourselves be built into a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through (the example of) Jesus Christ.”We may be rejected by the world, but we are fully affirmed by God.
