Jarenlang was Nederland het lachertje van het Eurovisie Songfestival. Jaar na jaar traden we aan met b-garnituur en vlogen we er in de halve finale uit. Maar de laatste jaren draait Nederland serieus mee in de top en dit jaar staat Duncan Laurence zelfs bovenaan bij de bookmakers. De Machine kijkt achter de schermen: Daniel Dekker van AVRO/TROS legt uit hoe het tij gekeerd werd en Nederland het de songwriting Champions League onder de knie kreeg. Verder kijken we eens met oog voor detail naar festivalposters. Ze hangen op straat en zijn bedoeld om mensen te verleiden een kaartje te kopen, maar weet je wel hoeveel politieke kwestie er spelen bij de totstandkoming van het affiche van je favoriete evenement? Nog meer festivalnieuws: in navolging van Britse festivals roepen ook Nederlandse festivals op om koepeltentjes niet langer meer te marketen als wegwerp festival items.
