Early in the month of February the French multinational integrated oil and gas company, Total announced that a gas condensate discovery which could between 500 million to over 1 billion barrels of oil. Located off the shore of Mossel Bay in the southern coast of South Africa says the discovery is said to make a significant contribution to South Africa’s economic development as it will help the country to depend less on imported oil and gas. However, with this new find, many questions have been asked from sections of sections of South African society. This potential of this gas discovery was discussed at the Africa Gas Forum which is part of the Africa Energy Indaba which has been underway since yesterday.To assist us we are joined on the line by: John Rocha, project manager of the Nepad Business Foundation Nosizwe Motsitsi, the executive managing director at GE Power System
