After Corona? - NORMAN COOK ON MUSIC

The Covid-19 pandemic has been the weirdest and least planned-for social experiment in our lifetimes, and it has exposed what is broken about many of our systems and sectors - as well as what is possible when you allow new ideas to be tested. In this episode, the topic is the UK's clubs, festivals and night-time music culture. And our very special guest is Norman Cook. Norman Cook has had a unique and prolific music career since 1985 when he joined indiepop band The Housemartins, before experimenting with new sounds in hip-hop, house music and big beat as a producer, remixer and artist - going on to become one of the most globally recognised superstar DJs in the mid-90s under his alias Fatboy Slim. Norman holds the Guinness World Record for having the most top 40 hits under different names and aliases - from Beats International and Freak Power to Mighty Dub Katz and Pizzaman. He is a regular staple on the summer festival circuits, headlining stages all over the world and closing stages at Coachella, Glastonbury the New Orleans Voodoo Music Experience and Bestival amongst many others; and his legendary one-off shows include performances at World Cups, in the House of Commons, at the London 2012 Olympics Closing Ceremony and to over 100,000 people on Brighton Beach.
