When tragedy strikes, it's hard enough to cope with the loss and grief; however, add onto all of that having to battle over a will in court for 5+ years, paying $10,000-$20,000+ in lawyer fees. What I know now from working with people every week, who've endured this tragedy, is that "having a will" does not protect you or your family like having a trust does. The trust may cost more up front, but it can protect your family from having to pay thousands in legal fees, over years, while your will is in "probate".
