Synchronicity. The arrival of the BICS set may - or may not - have triggered a paranormal event with my bedside lamp. Similar to my nightlight activity, the bulb began to flicker and blink on and off. Some bulbs recover from the static electricity interference - others burn out. The LED bulb in question did not burn out - but it eventually dimmed too much to be useful as a reading light and has been replaced with a halogen bulb.
