The truth is, the stories from ancient Israel and the first century church only survived because the original followers of Jesus believed they were worth telling. They were willing to sacrifice everything to make the redemption story known to everyone, everywhere. In this message, we take one more look at the aftermath of the Resurrection and see how Jesus convinced the disciples to choose Him instead of an easier, more convenient path. We also see how this same calling is over our lives, how we are sent just like the first century church was. The question over us today is will we be as determined as they were to be God's movement? Will we choose boldness and seek first the Kingdom? Will we be distracted or discouraged by lesser things? All of us are sent by God, for God. We all have room to give more, serve more, and do more. It begins by hearing God's word daily, applying and obeying it. It continues by investing in others over ourselves. It is sustained by maximizing every opportunity and praying for more. Christians, we must be faithful, flexible and fearless. We must be bold in a world that downplays God's Kingdom. Perhaps choosing Jesus will make us footnotes in the world's story, but when it's all said and done, the roles will be reversed, and only what's done for Christ will last.
