Agrippina the Younger

Agrippina the Younger was one of the most powerful women in the history of the Roman Empire. She was a Julio-Claudian, descended from Augustus and was the sister, wife and mother of Emperors. A consummate politician, Agrippina essentially ruled Rome for 5 years at the side of her husband (and uncle) Claudius, but when her scheming placed her son Nero on the throne she scored bit of an own goal, as Nero was not prepared to listen to his mother.
