AHOCT - Episode 54 - Athanasius On the Incarnation

from A History of Christian Theology · host Chad Kim

We spend a good deal of time this week look at Athansius unique view of the atonement which is known as deification or theosis. In the episode, we compare his views to those of the John Calvin, Martin Luther and Anselm of Cantebury, who have all made significant contributions to the idea of justification, which most of our audience will be familiar with. Although the view of deification is not unheard of in the West, it is primarily known as the view of the Eastern Orthodox Church. Please stick around for this great discussion. Also, it would really help us out if you would rate us and review us on iTunes. Just search for A History of Christian Theology, pull up our podcast and give us a quick click for how you like the podcast. Also, we’ve had questions slowly trickling in and will continue to air our responses to those questions. Now on to Athanasius.
