A rampant mutation would plague the Thousand Sons since their inception, and after making a deal with Tzeentch to save the legion from the Space Wolves and their assault during the Horus Heresy, the legion would be doomed. As this mutation increased, Ahriman sought a cure - a magical antitode he would name The Rubric. The ways of Tzeentch would reveal themselves as The Rubric would change the mutated into dust, animating their armour as soulless beings.
