AI Infrastructure and DeepSeek—EP4

Several initiatives and investments are underway to advance AI infrastructure. The Stargate Project, a collaboration between SoftBank, OpenAI, Oracle, and MGX, plans to invest $500 billion over four years to build AI infrastructure in the U.S. This project aims to secure American leadership in AI and generate economic benefits while also protecting national security. The U.S. government also supports AI development, with an executive order directing federal agencies to lease federal sites for AI data centers and clean power facilities. Meanwhile, DeepSeek, a Chinese AI company, has emerged as a strong competitor, having developed an open-source AI model at a fraction of the cost of other companies and prompting concerns about U.S. tech companies overspending on AI advancements.
