Hopefully everything should work out. Well, but tonight on Tuesday night I went to a program up at the Tampa Bay Technology Center where a gentleman by the name of Tony Rockliff put on a presentation about using AI for Writing and for publishing and it was like really awesome. Ah, just really really really awesome I'm going to share a little bit about that with you today Well, welcome to the Daily Grateful. I'm Michael Crows.
I've ever wanted to write a book. I've written a couple of many of them as well not many but I've written some and I've literally I have to tell you my self-publishing, you know my self-publishing Career I have garnered literally dozens of dollars from it and which is not what I'm into it for But what I really need to be into it for and I learned a lot tonight from Tony about using AI to help now AI is not going to write the book for you Well, actually it will but KDP or any self-publisher It has software to see that you know AI wrote it and they will reject it and maybe even ban you from trying to submit New work, so you need to be original But there's a lot that AI can do to help you a lot more than I thought as a matter of fact I use AI in my writing right now, but it is primarily for research now I this these are some of the notes I jotted down that I learned from Tony tonight Organize your manuscript with a software program called Scribner. I've never used it But it's a really powerful software that helps you organize your manuscript with ease, okay? He says it's very friendly easy to use now the next one I use constantly.
It's called Grammarly Grammarly is just I can't live without it I can't write without it as I write if I misspell something it underlines it and I can go okay click and there's the proper spelling It can it makes suggestions for me on rewriting a couple of words here and there when I'm done It'll go over the whole thing and make suggestions for me on how I can fix things. I love it There's another one that I used to use that he had listed It's called pro writing aid. I actually had that before I had Grammarly and It was it was okay, but a little bit too structured for me You might like it. I have friends who use it and like it more than they like Grammarly I belong to a writing group and I I would say about 50 50, you know, you 50% use Grammarly 50% use pro writing aid It just wasn't my cup of tea doesn't mean it, you know has to be yours Here's the other thing that I do chat GPT has now they are now out That it was released I think Monday last Monday, and it's called chat GPT four point lower case Oh now there has been a chat GPT four point.
Oh on the market You had to pay for it 20 bucks a month and it's excellent I never paid for and I always use free versions of that or just about anything else But this one came out and it is fabulous and it's free You know, you can do a lot now if you run out of bandwidth, you know I guess you can use it so much and then it reverts back to the old version But I don't know anybody who has used it too much I certainly haven't but it was really really really nice and here's what I use chat GPT for I use it to brainstorm I will I'm writing a series of horticulture books right now Just finished the lawn care book getting ready to move into trees and trees are not my area of expertise So I'm going to write prompts and I really learned how to write prompts tonight in this thing But I'm gonna write prompts asking chat GPT to give me 12 chapters named 12 chapters on a book about Florida trees Trees that grow well in Florida and after that is done I'm going to ask it to do a basic outline for each chapter and it will do that and then from there And by the way, the neat thing about that is if it doesn't know it looks it up on the internet, which is fabulous I mean, it's just absolutely fabulous So I will use that and I will go and I will pick up more stuff from the internet that I will need I'm not I used to be a certified arborist. Oh gosh 30 years ago And I just let it go because I wasn't doing that much of it But I you know took all the classes back down I'm really familiar with Florida trees, but I'm not up to date on it. So this is going to help me a lot Okay, now once you're done with that, you're gonna need you've written your book You know, and by the way, I am there's just so much that he taught tonight But if you when you write your book I always have to have it formatted and what I have always done is I've paid someone to format it to get it ready to go I publish on KDP which is Kindle Direct Publishing and I either you know have it formatted for the Kindle or I have it formatted for print But I usually have it formatted for both well There is a product out there called vellum and it will do this for you instead because I paid a lot of money They have my books formatted in the past I've you know written these things out and then I've paid to have them formatted So that's pretty good vellum. I'm going to check that one out myself once you got your book formatted You need to design a cover now.
Believe it or not AI has got a lot of of ways that you can use it to come up with graphics for the cover I'm a little worried about that myself because according to the copyright law You can't copyright anything that is made by a machine or anything that comes over AI. You can't copyright it So if I have AI design my book cover, I don't own it. I can't copyright it Anybody else can come in and steal it, but you know, there are you know, Chet GPT 4.0 has it you can ask it to design I've never been happy with it. There's you know, I've just never been happy with it But other people say it's getting better and you can look into it I Design my own books actually I will pay someone to help me with that But I will come up with the basic design of my own book and I will use that on my podcasting You know, I have a podcasting book that I totally designed myself I use something called Canva Canva now has AI built into it to where it will help you with designs using AI And then once you're done with that, you go to Amazon Kindle direct publishing if you don't have an Amazon account open one Everybody has an Amazon account.
I buy everything on Amazon. Although I must tell you totally topic Walmart is winning me over I'm talking about walmart.com. You'd be surprised how they are competing against the Amazon But they're not into book publishing So if you're gonna do book publishing if you have an Amazon account you go in you go I think it's you look up how to publish a book on Amazon. It will take you there follow the instructions It's very easy.
I've done it. I've you know, I've done it a bunch of times now and My favorite ex-wife Diane and I are getting together. We're going to write a series of Kindle books So I'm so glad that I went to this presentation tonight because it gave me a lot of ideas on brainstorming using AI So keep that in mind and you too can be a book publisher. You can be an author You can have your name on a book cover.
How cool is that? Most of the books that I publish do not have my name on it And they've had names that I've made up some of them have my names, but most of them have pin names I'm not gonna tell you what they are, but Something to think about By the way, if you would like a free copy of Tony's PowerPoint.
