Aileen's Story

Aileen and her family were introduced to serious mental illness when their son Geoff was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder as a freshman in college. Now, 21 years later, Aileen says "she doesn't believe they could have navigated successfully without NAMI DuPage and all it offers its clients and their families." What we who know her admire so much are her tireless efforts to help others who face that same journey. She began volunteering for NAMI DuPage over 20 years ago, and has risen through their ranks to become a "trainer of trainers" on a national level, mentoring many dozens of like minded volunteers who are now peer group facilitators and educational instructors.
