Small Town by John Mellencamp - This song has always given me a warm feeling, like riding in the back of a pickup truck slow through the downtown square on a sunny day waving at the folks walking by. Kids playing in the park and the smell of BBQ cooking on a grill. And look, there's a farmers market set up! Booths and tables full of baked goods, handmade crafts, and jar after jar of salsas and pickled everything. The most vibrant vegetables and fruits, all in the peak of freshness and flavor. There are so many things I love about a farmer's market. So I was visiting our local farmers market and meet some really amazing people that are doing so pretty incredible things. I was inspired to interview a few of these up-and-coming entrepreneurs. Our story begins with Tim, the manager of the Garland Farmers Market at Firewheel. We talk about the origin of the market, some of the great vendors that offer their specialties, and some pretty amazing products that Tim has to offer. I have a passion for local artists, crafters, and designers of culinary delights. Our communities can really be strengthened and unified through these markets and events.
