Another month, another regional expansion for bolttech in Southeast Asia. In May, bolttech announced its partnership with Vietnam’s e-commerce platform Tiki to offer device protection plans. The Asia InsurTech Podcast has been following the trend of alternative distribution channels for a while and bolttech is certainly one of the major ecosystem players in the region.  InsurTech in general is not slowing down and this has been confirmed by an S&P Global report. Frontrunner China and India show the most InsurTechs and the highest levels of funding. However, Southeast Asia sees as many InsurTech ventures as India, just not the same level of funding.  Talking about China and India, Indian health insurance startup Plum raised $15.6 million, BimaPe is part of Y Combinator’s winter cohort and Chinese Insurtech Yuanbao secured USD 155 million while Waterdrop successfully IPOed in the US in early May.  In New Zealand, the Australian InsurTech Open is teaming up with Tower Insurance to launch their consumer-facing brand Huddle. And HSBC Life partnered with dacadoo to integrate their Digital Health Engagement Platform into HSBC’s recently launched health and wellbeing platforms.
