Air Market Momentum Grows as West African States Embrace SAATM Vision & Nigeria’s Air Corridor Push

In a landmark step toward deeper regional integration, seven West African nations have launched a joint airspace under the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM), while Nigeria has unveiled a new air trade corridor to drive intra-African exports and reduce logistical bottlenecks for small and medium-sized enterprises.The twin initiatives, SAATM and Nigeria’s AfCFTA-backed air export route, are expected to ease mobility, improve trade efficiency, and cut reliance on non-African transit hubs. By targeting internal cargo flow and passenger connectivity, they mark a shift toward making African markets more accessible to Africans themselves.
