Airbnb vs. Hostels and Hotels

It's a full on accommodation-isode. We break down why we are choosing to stay more and more at Airbnb's, less at hostels, and way less at hotels. We both love staying in hostels. They are a cheap place to spend a night, but there is a lot of other value you get from staying in a dorm room. The social aspect helps you learn what to do in a city and you have a better chance to meet people and have fun experiences with new friends. Lately, we've been staying a lot more at Airbnb's. When we look at what we can get on Airbnb for the price of two beds in a hostel dorm room, it usually blows the hostel away. In Kuala Lumpur, we had a fancy studio apartment for less that the price of two beds in a ten-bed dorm. It's a no-brainer from a comfort perspective, but after staying in Airbnb's for a while we began to feel like we were missing something from almost exclusive hostel travel. We dig into the different types of accommodation we use and why you shouldn't just listen to your desire for comfort when booking accommodations.
