The second in a two-part series chronicling the long road to becoming a CFI. In this episode, our hero suffers more indignation at the hands of a check airman who calls off Christmas, after which he begins the long slog down the self-launch mountain, through the valley, and back up the adjacent peak of aerotow.

Some Cub Flying Neal Boortz The last time I landed the CarbonCub on pavement was at Sarasota on my way from Yakima, WA to my Naples home base. That was last October. So this morning I thought I might go ahead and test my pavement skills on RW 5 in Naples. Here you go ... full 50 degree flaps .. as slow as I could get her. Touchdown airspeed was around 49mph .. and with the headwind that translated to a ground speed of about 40mph. You can see how short these Cubs can land.
