Albany Woman Plotted Capitol Bombing | Calgary News

A 35-year-old Albany woman, Jessica Bowie, has been charged with plotting to bomb the New York State Capitol, allegedly motivated by her extremist interpretation of Islam and a desire to disrupt government. Under FBI surveillance for over a month, she reportedly scouted the Capitol multiple times, purchased bomb-making materials including shrapnel nails, and sought weapons to fight law enforcement. She also discussed fleeing the country and launching further attacks on high-profile targets like the White House and Times Square. With state lawmakers out of session, she initially targeted Albany City Hall before focusing on the Capitol. In response, Governor Hochul’s office has ramped up security at government buildings amid rising national threats.
