Alberta Business Council Pushes Stay in Canada | Calgary News

Alberta’s business leaders are rallying to keep the province in Canada, launching a new campaign to inform voters and combat apathy ahead of the October 19 referendum. With 65% of polls favoring staying, Business Council of Alberta president Adam Legge says most members want to remain part of Canada—and they’re using their platforms to amplify that message, even without official third-party status. While separation isn’t likely to vanish from politics, Legge notes the vote’s “five-year cooling-off” clause could bring stability. Though no businesses report economic hardship tied to the referendum, many still feel Ottawa hasn’t treated Alberta fairly—fueling calls for a better federal relationship.
